Question about Hyka and Houser.

These were the players I was most impressed with today. Any chance for them to get ELC's if we somehow drop some contracts?

Who would we drop?

Well...who would the organization drop?

Lehtivuori is already gone so they could get Kessel. I don't see anything else happening outside of a contract for Couturier so they can slide him.

Technically you can sign both and send them back down so their contracts slide.

Maybe Hyka can get a contract then.

Houser though? I don't see it.

Houser looked really sharp in net, and Hyka was always in scoring position tonight. Blake Kessel and Jason Akeson also really impressed me tonight.

I mentioned it before, I honestly cant see carrying 3 goalies in Adirondack. I still think there is a chance Backlund is released to go to Europe. He has no future here anyway.

Guaranteed $800.000 say he stays in Adirondack. He won't find a similar deal somewhere in Europe, especially after the regular season started.

The Seasons have already started in the European Leagues.

There's a reason why they signed Bacashihua. He does not have to go through recall waivers to be recalled.

I don't think it's that unimaginable that they could move guys like Kalinski, Legein, Marshall, Bourdon, etc....for future considerations. Andrew Rowe could be another guy who could be moved. The Flyers are actually in a decent position to dispatch some contracts without having to give up anything to move the contracts.

I can think of quite a few expendable contracts, but I don't see the Flyers moving any of them just to move them; not unless there was an obvious situation such as the one with Lehtivuori.

Aren't AHL and NHL contracts different, hes paid the 900k if hes playing in the NHL but his AHL salary is much lower correct?

Well I can see them moving one of them, thinking that if they sign someone else will be better than who they traded. Like Legein for instance. He is pretty much average AHL fodder. Rowe is barely AHL material.

Well...this is the list next year of who probably won't be back...

UFA: Leighton, Backlund, Bacashihua, Jancevski, Betts, Laperriere, (Jagr)

RFA: Rowe, Legein, (Kalinski), (Zolnierczyk)

Just throwing this out there...Vokoun signed for less than Leighton, in money and years.

Why does Leighton have that contract?

Why did you have to bring MFL and TV into this?

Because Leighton has one more year on his contract before he's a UFA. That's absurd, and I felt the need to say something. Otherwise, it's pretty much a tangent.

I agree with you that its a horrible contract. No doubt. Sorry for being a ***** about it... its just that every time I hear/read/think his name I'm taken back to game 6 against the Blackhawks.

better question do you think more then 5 minutes was spent in negotiations with Leighton and his agent? 1.5 for a borderline at best goaltender is assinine. But we have beaten this topic to death already.

A lot of players have those two-way contracts but, not all of them. For instance as mentioned by someone else in this thread, this season Johan Backlund is guaranteed 800,000 whether he plays in the AHL or the NHL, but last season it was 105,000 in the AHL, and 800,000 in the NHL. Though in Backlund's case I guess you could call his whole deal a two-way because of the first year of the contract?

Would Backlund really go back? Pretty sure he would stay in NA one more season to cash in on his guaranteed $800k, unless he can get more than that in Europe

If he is loaned back to Europe, doesn't he still get paid by us?

If a space is needed I'm sure someone can be moved. If not just release them a la Cabana.
