Way too many teams with stripey blue jerseys and circular logos. Somebody made this post on the main board just to show how many there are.

http://hfboards.com/showpost.php?p=3...&postcount=258

I don't mind the Oilers, Islanders, Sabres, and maybe Penguins. Everyone else needs to get more creative.

Terrible news out of Russia. A plane carrying the Lokomotiv hockey club crashed after takeoff. This article says 34 of 37 dead, but Dmitry Chesnokov, a reliable Russian-American reporter is saying 36 of 37 dead. Here's his twitter post:

http://twitter.com/#!/dchesnokov

This is the team Skrastins signed with. No confirmation that he died in the crash, but it sure doesn't look good.

Apparently our good friend Jamie Langenbrunner will be wearing an "A" in St. Louis this season.

Interesting.

Winchester the clown to try out with San Jose. Filling up their hateable quota after the departure of Heatley and Eager.

Selanne returns for another season.

Love the player, hate being in the division with him.

This.

Nice for the hockey sport, bad for the Western Conference, especially Pacific divison.

IMO, if the Ducks stay healthy they are to 99% in the playoffs.

So are target must be to get the last year's Yotes spot.

Can't not wait to celebrate the day that he retires. Still not over that game at home last year...

Anyone following Modano on twitter? He's sure pretty fiery and talkative. Not a conservative twitter guy so far, for sure.

Speaking of guys who need to retire......come on, Mo, it's time.

Fish ain't biting, don't drag this into the season like Sundin did.

I'm hoping he waits until the ownership issue is settled, then gets a job in the front office.

But I think he'd be fine retiring already. Not sure why he hasn't, at this point, no cup contender is gonna offer him anything. He wouldn't get playing time, anyways.

His account led me to this one...which is funny.

So @9Modano is on twitter now. I can only assume he joined after hearing the one & only future Dallas Stars scoring leader was already here.

I'm loving these Doughty/Turris situations. I really hope it goes fully sour with Turris, he was ready to break out.

I think its quite interesting that we're no longer labelled "worst defense in the league." Last year the annual HF pre-season General threads talking about which teams had the worst D had us all over it. This year we're not even mentioned.

I'm not unhappy with this but I think its strange. Adding Gologiski and Pardy really had that much of a sway on people's opinions?

I imagine it's because the Stars had no legitimate #1 defenseman. Non-Dallas fans look at the roster and see that Robidas was our #1. Fans are also infatuated with offense, which Goligoski provides as a true #1 PP QB.

I noticed this as well. My theory is that when people go through their mental rolodex of who plays where, when they get to the Stars they go, "Goligoski, Robidas, Grossman, Daley" and then they stop and move on to the next team. That's a critical mass of players who are considered at least average-to-good.

I still think we need that final piece on the back end, but it's definitely an improvement over last year!

Really hoping for a great season from Souray.

Daley belongs on the third pair. We need one more top 4 defenseman, then we're set back there. Definitely thinking someone can step up within the organization in the next couple years.

Watched the Red Wings - Pens game. Niskanen scores a PP goal with a pretty nice shot from the point. Wonder if he'll have a better seas.. nahhhh.

Apparently the Pens are trying to fit Neal in as a RW, much to Pens fans chagrin. He's not be impressive, which isn't surprising considering what we remember of him trying to play RW.
