Usually they don't need to make a trip across the pond to play an exhibition game against Jokerit.

Why have a scrimmage on a weekday when you can have it on the weekend when more fans would be able to attend. I remember having two scrimmages back in 2007.

The good part about Anaheim Ice was the 2 rinks. So for early training camps they can have all the players practicing.

I think Honda Center means the roster will already be cut down. Fewer prospects and no tryouts. Well 1 tryout. Not like he's good enough to make the team.

The scrimmage isn't for the fans, it's for the team.

Look, jiggsaw, the Ducks have a schedule this season that isn't the norm. As it is, a normal NHL pre-season/training camp is about a month's worth of hockey and training compacted into about two weeks. Then there are usually a couple of days off before the regular season starts.

With them going to Helsinki on the 4th, they have even less time this season. That's less time to try to get the same amount of prep work done. You'll need to forgive them if their preparations for the upcoming season might be at the expense of running training camp on a schedule that is easier for you.

It didn't use to be so bad, the employess there have gotten worse over the years. Last year they kept chasing people off from standing by the railings....people were already pretty much sitting on top of each other there was no where else to go. There just wasn't enough room anymore, it's not like the old days when you could spread out. Moving it to the Ponda is a great move for us fans.

There are lots of reasons for the move. Security, keeping fans away, medical facilities, video & technical, equipment, personnel, etc. The players have been asking for this for a long time. The shortened training camp makes things possible.

Now they can try to sell tickets while people are inside the arena
Hope this helps the team win earlier this season.

Go Ducks!

His chances of making the NHL roster are limited.
But anything could happen with injuries, etc.

Bonino and Palmieri have shown more at the AHL level at this point, and are higher on the depth chart. If all three of them have good camps, Deschamps will be the least likely to make the team. That doesn't mean it can't happen. As Moose pointed out anything can happen. Injuries could open up a spot for him. He could exceed expectations at camp, and really impress. He'll have an opportunity to make a case for why he belongs on the team, but on his current path he's probably not going to be playing in the NHL this season unless there are injuries.

Lubomir Visnovsky will miss Saturday's session.
Traveled to Trencin to attend Pavol Demitra's funeral service.

RIP Pavol Dmitra (1974 - 2011)

Visnovsky is on the ice. First group was just skated to exhaustion and Fowler was particularly tired.

Does Holland have a chance to make the team? Or does everyone think he'll get a half to full season to adjust to the pro game, and possibly light it up in the AHL and then come up?

Holland's chances of making the team are very slim.

-The Ducks are set at the center position in the top 9.

- Top 6 minutes in Syracuse > 4th line duties in Anaheim.

Beleskey and Lydman are both out on the ice, but are only participating in the conditioning drills.

Also, Smaby has easily been the most physical out of both groups. First group was mostly veterans and they were pretty chill hitting wise. Second group has been a little more urgent with guys trying to get noticed.

He made the second group at 10:15, good for the Ducks.
Nice to see the effort and commitment from these guys.

Thanks to everyone giving their camp reports.
Nice to see different perspectives.
Decent crowd, team looks stronger out of the gate.

Unconfirmed rumor has Foster sitting with kducks and papspud
( Imagining KF doing lazy circles with the Saturday Public Session at Anaheim Ice .. )
