Training Camp Impressions

For those of you who attended the Jets sessions today at the Iceplex, I'd be really interested to hear some impressions of what you saw out there.

Couldn't attend, stupid work on Saturday.

Michael Forney. Was surprised they didn't have him on the Young Stars team.

Thanks for the impressions ABR, look forward to hearing more.

My brother is there with his two kids, said Ladd was really sharp in the first session. That's about all. He's not much of a talent evaluator.

He should apply for a job with the Maple Leafs.

Cody Sol looked good? Uhh what? He got beat on the one on one drills every time he is way too slow. All the regulars obviously looked good, Bogo, Enstrom, Kane, Ladd, Little, Buff, etc.

Bodie looked impressive and was lighting the lamp a lot in the break out drills. If he continues to play the way he did today he will get a serious look.

Antropov seemed really lazy and like he was slacking a lot.

Wellwood was starting to die before the practice was even over, he isn't in very good shape but he is a good skater with nice hands..

Hainsey was really taking charge during the second group and was really a leader out there he also kept up the energy and wasn't fooling around -- dude is serious.

Kendall McFaull, I don't know who this guy is drafted/tryout/ or what .. but he was awful. When the offense and defense split on either sides of the ice he was constantly fanning on shots and just screwing up constantly. He was visibly upset with himself too.

Another impression:

If you are a parent and take your 2-3-4-5-6-7 year old kids to these practices with you. Tell them to sit down and shut up or leave them at home. Having little children run around make noise and be annoying as ***** is annoying as *****.

In my row there were these two little kids that honestly got up and left and came back at least 10 times in the span of 20 minutes and every time I need to move so they can get by. I was at the point was I was going to mention something to the parents but they finally left.

Practices aren't for kids. Period.

Seriously though, thanks everyone for the impressions. Crowd-wise, what was it like? Packed to the rafters?

I don't have a problem with kids if they sit, watch and enjoy hockey. Perfect for older kids 7-10 etc. But, like I said, I don't need four year old's running around not having any care in the world then interrupting my experience. Like I said, I didn't go there to get annoyed and constantly have to move for kids.

I really find it funny that people don't think kids walking in and out of the aisle so often is a problem. Please, let me know where your seats are at the MTS Centre for a Jets game and I will be more than pleased to walk in front of you ten times during a period since it isn't a problem.

I fell in love with hockey as a kid running around hockey rinks. Kids are hockey! Perhaps one of those little rink rats running around is the next Johnny Toews or Darren Helm. What a geat way to spend a Saturday morning in September, heading to the ice plex to welcome our Winnipeg Jets and catch some action. Most of these kids may never see the inside of MTS centre for a Jets game.

I am in 109 and 117 and my little one is only 3. Drinks about 3 pops and goes to the washroom lots during the game.
