Staal not expected to play in any of three North American exhibition games....Tortorella will address issue later this afternoon...
Great training camp so far. What's tomorrow's news gonna be? Lundqvist is being held out of all preseason games because his blocker arm has fallen off?
no need to rush him. let the kids play. even in the regular season. jason morneau is now done for the year from that concussion he had last year. and he's a baseball player. let staal totally get over this. rangers have tons of depth to test.
I assume he'll be good to play when the big games start, but still. Makes him potentially vulnerable for a season-long dissapearance if he is not careful.
boy does this suck. on a side note, im just thinking how scary that could be, playing an extra 2-3 months symptom free then all of a sudden out of nowhere get concussion like symptoms? thats really scary come to think about it. anything neurological scares me from personal experiences i have had. i hope hes ok.
Hated that hit by Eric when it happened and even more pissed about it now.... Was this the hit where he drove Marc into the boards head first or another one?

No, it's the one where Marc was looking down at the puck around the hash mark in the offensive zone, and Eric came in and laid him out. Marc never hit the boards.
There has GOT to be a way to come up with a helmet that can do a better job of mitigating this issue... I don't care if it makes the players look like bobble head dolls and it fogs up or makes it harder to fight or whatever (all the BS that players use to justify the fact that they're still risking their eyes by not wearing visors). Figure it out, make it mandatory - they'll get used to it within a few months. Let's stop risking losing the best players from our game.

In this particular hit, I don't think a helmet (other than a full cage) would've done any good. The damage, from what I can tell, probably came when his face hit the ice. More of a jaw shot than anything up near the top of his head that a helmet would've helped.
