Wheres any sort of coverage, this has to be one of the most important training camp in years but also the least covered camp, what gives?

I expect the beat writers to suck. Most simply wait for some post practice quotes for their stories and barely watch the camp. I usually rely on fans giving their write-ups and takes on what is going on. But this year, I have not seen a single one. C'mo fans in Philly, give us something, please?

Thanks.

Games start later this week, that'll be a better indicator. Today, Schenn centered Hartnell and Voracek.

from my perspective this has been the year with the least amount of infor given about camp in the last 5 or more years. it started with prospect camp, and has carried through rookie and now main camp. maybe people are just busier or maybe its because of other reasons like timmy p having jury duty and shelf having car troubles but there is a lack of info this year for sure. the preseason games will change that im sure.

As for reports from the rookie game, here's one from Down Goes Spezza:

Also, what do his pads look like, assuming he's wearing his flyers pads?

I don't know how Bryz looks but Talbot and Briere look pretty funny in this pic

It’s the annual “media day” here at Training Camp as well. The entire team will be shooting dramatic “gladiator” footage for CSN, take their official NHL headshots, do multiple interviews for website, in-arena pieces and put in a lot of green-screen time.

Danny Briere and Max Talbot were the first among the Flyers to get in early and go through the media “cycle”. Take a look…

Here's a read on Read:

http://www.courierpostonline.com/art...ws|text|Flyers

Quote:
VOORHEES — Danny Briere was at center and Jaromir Jagr at right wing. Matt Read was in awe skating on a line with one of the Flyers’ returning stars and their new NHL legend during Saturday’s practice at Skate Zone.

From afar, Read idolized these guys growing up in Ilderton, Ontario. Just passing the puck to them was a blast, but what kept going through Read’s mind was, “Don’t screw up the drill.”

Read did fine in an audition that shows you what Flyers management thinks of the kid prospect who really isn’t a kid.

Just a few months out of college, Read is 25.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound center/left wing has been on the Flyers’ radar since he’d seemingly come out of nowhere playing college hockey for an obscure upstate Minnesota school, Bemidji State University.

Read’s first big moment on a national stage came his sophomore year when he led his school to a Cinderella season, a trip to the NCAA Frozen Four. A year later, he was an NHL prospect but too old for the Entry Draft.

The Flyers were on him but would have to wait another year.

Last March, the Flyers made their move, and their one-way, $2.7 million offer for three years showed they were serious.

Jagr isn't skating with the top group today.

http://www.csnphilly.com/blog/flyers...883&feedID=695

Quote:
Jaromir Jagr is not with this group. I wouldn’t read anything into it, except maybe he is not with the group that will go to Toronto. The Flyers play four games this week in succession and you’d think Jagr would play in Philly on Wednesday against the Maple Leafs.

Also, Jagr comes back on Skate Zone at night to do a separate workout by himself. He told us he wanted to live near the rink because he practices a lot. He wasn’t kidding.

He works out with a 25-pound weight when on his own. Animal.

Beat guys are saying that these might be the lines for tomorrow's game.

Defense pairings were:

Carle-Walker
Coburn-Lilja
Gustafsson-Timonen
Meszaros-Bartulis

That is probably true.

There are rules in place per the CBA for pre-season games as to a minimum (eight) vets permitted to play in each game. Also, because the scheduling is different than regular season (four games in four nights, for instance), there are rules that prohibit players from playing in such a stretch.

I know we aren't supposed to read anything into lines etc at this point but I can't help but notice that Gustafsson and Timonen have together for 3 straight days.

Sooo does this mean that the top group was released from their contracts with the Flyers, and the bottom group will return to their junior squads?

Top group is all people on tryouts that did not earn a contract with the team, at least not yet/this year.

Bottom group is our prospect owned by our organization who did not make the NHL roster (or AHL roster if under 20 which all are).

All players listed were returned to their respective junior squads. Only Noebels goes back to juniors under contract, and his contract slides now.

I really hope Jags will be in the lineup in Detroit. I am from Edmonton, on vacation in Niagara falls, got tickets to that game hoping for a chance to see my hero play. Not getting my hopes up though.

What do you guys think about Mair and Sestito's chances of finding a spot in the bottom 6?

Sestito has a good chance given his contract status.

Mair needs to have a lot of things happen. He's fighting for a spot with roughly 14 other guys.
