Would be smart for Vancouver to load up on defensemen again. Wonder what he would want. Don't think Vancouver would offer any more than 1.5M.

That many teams in need of a slow-footed defenseman who wants too much money?

According to Fake Kyper, McCabe has signed with the Canucks.

yep. we learned from our mistakes (no forward-depth) this off-season just to make the same mistakes on defense again?!
plus another vet on D wouldn`t hurt anyway

He would be pretty damn useless if he didn't, so it would be stupid not to give him PP time. He still has a good, hard shot.

Which is why it doesn't make sense to add him.

Rome I like as the 7th/8th dman.

Salo will get injured eventually and McCabe would take is ice time, but on the 3rd pairing.
Tanev performed quite well last season and during his brief stint in the playoffs. He also managed to develop good chemistry with Ballard. He can learn from the other seven guys.

If Alberts fits perfectly, then where is Ballard? What, we're paying him four million again just to get Gatorade? That has to be it because you cannot possibly be suggesting Ballard and McCabe line up as our third pairing. Great, makes the Grabner trade look even better...

How about we try using the other seven guys we have first, and for the powerplay, Samulsson. We can always sign someone, if Salo gets injured.

If we dump Rome or Alberts, sure sign McCabe but until then this seems wholly unnecessary, unless he is a clear upgrade, which is certainly not the case.

Assuming Salo is hurt (which is a realistic occurance )....

We still have Bieksa and Edler to handle the "point shot" duties which as you say, should be enough. I'd prefer a puck moving defenseman/PP quarterback before another guy with a decent shot from the point.

According to no one on this planet, Lebron James has retired.

I mean talk about the most meaningless post ever. Jeez.

I'm sure one of, if not both, of Rome n Alberts will be learning to play the right side of the ice. This way Ballard's recovery will be more seemless.

Anybody who think either of these scrubs will replace Ballard in the lineup when he's healthy is delusinal. This is a big year for Ballard and Gillis. They both need better performances out of Ballard and him being healthy gives me a much greater chance of succeeding this time rather than last year.

McCabe offers nothing to Vancouver. Anyone who says another vet would help, wtf are Rome Alberts and Salo? Each can fill in, each are experienced, and each have gone further than McCabe has ever dreamed off.
Unless McCabe accepts league minimum with a chance of being waived the first week of the season, he really isn't a valuable piece to be adding. With the way Vancouver is pushing for another run. I'm sure Gillis won't be adding deadweight.

[QUOTE=Rivet52;36793677]I don't get how St. Louis makes no sense. McCabe's better than Huskins and they could use a PP QB.

Think Shattenkirk and Pietrangelo did just fine a PP QBs last year throwing up 43 points each as rookies. I will keep those two and three million for something else

I really don't see him as a fit for the Blues.

Petro
Shattenkirk
Polak
Jackman
Cola
Nikitin
Huskins

If Huskins or Nikitin had a two way contract then I could see where they would give him a look but I don't think Armstrong can afford to put a one way in Peoria.
