Colin Wilson

Hey Preds fans. Just wondering whats your take on Colin Wilson. Is he going to be getting top 6 minutes this season, and what kind of production do you think he is capable of? I think this guy should get an oppertunity, he is highly skilled and deserves the chance IMO. But is he ready?

Wilson was in the doghouse due to inconsistent effort and defensive lapses late last year.

I dont think he will start the year getting top line minutes unless there are injuries but he can play himself into those minutes with improved effort, attention to defensive responsibility, and most of all, results.

If your line scores a goal, you're the first line that night.

That's a very good point. I expect the "fourth" line to be a scoring line of younger players (O'Reilly, Bergfors or Wilson, and Halischuk or Smith) that gets a little less time than the other three lines, but I think you'll probably see the other three lines get pretty close to even ice time 5-on-5.

I'll stand behind my statement of I think he's going to breakout this year. In flashes last year you could see how much talent he has, hopefully he puts it together.

Totally agree. Look at these games last year Wilson had. He took control of the LA game.

This pure PWF goal against the AVS

http://video.predators.nhl.com/video...9&event=COL558

The only player to score in a 4-2 loss to Dal

http://video.predators.nhl.com/video...20102011,2,541

And I just like this snipe against ATL

http://video.predators.nhl.com/video...98&event=ATL28

I know he wasnt as consistent last year as we wanted him to be. But most 21 year olds in the NHL are the same way except for a few top picks mainly. If he is on a top line through out the season with PP time, I would not be worried about his production at all.

Nobody is arguing that he doesn't have talent. He just needs to give 100% every shift and he will be fine

Guys, thanks for insight. If not this year, next year this guy should undoubtedly be your top centre. He's got unreal talent and I really like his game. Best of luck this year and thanks again for your responses.

I think he'll be better suited as a winger. He's the type of player I want to see being a little more selfish with the puck.

Does anyone else think that him making the team isn't a foregone conclusion? I wouldn't even call him a lock at this point. Don't get me wrong, it is very likely he makes it, but it isn't a sure thing. I'm really curious to see how he reacts in camp from being scratched in the playoffs.

I hear Trotz is planning on playing him on the second line.

I really, really hope he plays up to his potential this year.
