Bottom line is that you figure Marc is gonna have kids, so you are messing with your nieces and nephews well being and not only just your brother.

You don't avoid the hit, but you just don't give the next level effort of driving him through the ice.
You should take a look at some of the hits Marc has thrown towards both his brothers way. He's usually the one initiating physical contact.

And it wasn't a dirty hit. Let's relax.

let me preface this by saying i hate eric staal...and marc staal is far and away my favorite current ranger

i have no beef with that hit whatsoever

marc was asking to get popped creeping up the boards with his head down watching the puck, i'd want a player on my team to make that hit 10 out of 10 times

eric stayed on his feet, led with his shoulder, and made contat with marc's upper chest/shoulder. If marc had his head and up body in the right place, carolina's board would have a thread about eric breaking his collarbone trying to layout his brother

I don't really care if it was a dirty hit or not - Eric has to live with the consequences of knowing that he's given his Brother a hellacious hit that is effecting his livelihood.

But I don't care about that either. We just need him healthy. That's what I'm worried about right now.

Right, I'm sure he was thinking "I'm gonna give my brother a concussion and hopefully jeopardize his career!"

He was thinking "I'm gonna catch this ******* with his head down".

It is a part of hockey. It is unfortunate Marc hit the ice the way he did. Hopefully he makes a speedy recovery, because we do need him to do any serious damage this season (contrary to what some jokers are saying).

Everyone stop complaining about the hit. It was legal, it was fair. Brother or not.

The issue is with the RANGERS ORGANIZATION for letting him continue to play the rest of the season if this was an issue. How the **** is this all coming out NOW?

Bush league **** right here man.

Hit wasn't anymore dirty than Staal's hit on Stajan.

you mean hit his brother hard and clean? It really wasn't a blatantly "dirty" hit. But yeah lets get guys to go beat him up! We've learned this summer that attitude has no ill effects in the future.

Seriously, we could have Gunnarsson for a pick if we wanted him.

Does Sather still have Marek Malik's phone number?

With how stingy Slats has been the past few years with our players? I doubt he'd pay that price.

so why is everyone freaking out? Staal is being eased back in like he should ,whatever, start freaking out if he doesnt play overseas. They said he is going to not play in NA and there is nothign wrong with that

he starts the yr and we dont trade for another Dman. These rumors happened last yr saying we need a vet 6th dman and then McD an Sauer did great

same rumors this yr and DZ and Erixon will do great

Guys...stop blaming the organization. Staal passed baseline tests and was cleared by doctors to play back when the incident happened.

Hahaha... Good idea... Many will start coming at you with pitch forks!

Redden can probably play in the NHL but obviously his salary is WAY TOO HIGH.

Lets keep the fingers crossed that Staal will be ready by the beginning of the season...Still,as a team the Rangers left themselves open to this by not obtaining a worthy D-man in the off season and entering the preseason with two 2nd year players as their 2nd pair and a bunch of unproven kids and an Emmiger as the rest....Any long term injury to Staal or GIrardi and the Rangers already suspect D is in shambles..I thought the shot blocking Giraridi was the higher injury risk..

You said it. While the conspiracy theories/examining a hit from 7 months ago like its the damn Zapruder film if funny, what I find particularly appauling are the few people who are trying to say this wouldn't be a huge loss if he cant start the season.

Besides losing Lundqvist, its probably THE biggest loss for this team. People that have been watching hockey for 35 years cant realize how important Staal is? Seemingly because he doesnt provide much offense?? Thats absurd.

This defense is a house of cards ready to collapse if you remove the main cog in Marc Staal.
