Cole did not sign in Montreal to go from playing with Staal to Desharnais and Eller. Also I think both and Cammalleri PLekanec are pushing hard for Cole.

There's an outside chance that Paccioretty plays with Desharnais and Eller only because they had chemistry in Hamilton HOWEVER Gionta and Gomez played their best hockey with MaxPAc on the wing so I doubt it gets dismantled.

So to answer your question, Yes you are the only one who thinks AK will start in the top 6 (injury aside)

I said I would be surprised if AK is moved to make room for a guy like Palushaj (or picks for that matter).
It simply doesn't make much sense.

If we move him for picks, it means we are sellers, and so not in PO contention, which would surprise me a whole lot.
If we move him as part of a package in order to bring in some talented player? The okay, as it would improve our team.
If we move him to make room for a young unproven Palushaj, then again, it would only make sense if we are in contention.

If AK is having his usual year (20G 45pts), and we are somewhere between top of division and 6th, then the only way he gets moved is if we get a return that can improve our team more so than AK.

Ya, AK is likely gone next year. Management has proven that they are more than willing to risk losing prospects to market for a PO run, and rightfully so. So if he's moved, there's only two possibilities in my mind, either we're out of a run (which I doubt), or he's part of a package for a better player.

So ya, I would be surprised if he's moved only to be replaced by Palushaj, and even more if it's for picks.

AK 46 will not play on the top 6 without injury
I see the lines as most others except for 1 small change
Cammy - Pleks - cole
gio - gomer - maxpac
moen - eller - ak46
I know DD may not belong on the 4th line, but if you are to follow the recipe of the top 2 lines, Moen is a better fit. as a side note: does no one else remember how good that line was last year in the playoffs?

Pretty sure AK will play at least 15-20 games on the top 6.

Cammy-Plek-Cole
MP-Gomez-Gionta

Even if we don't have any injury, its almost impossible that these lines can keep a good pace and be consistent for all season.

That being said, I don't mind AK playing on the third line at all. I expect Eller to breakout this season and we already saw there's some chemistry between AK and Eller last season. I hope JM will use DD to complete that line, these 3 can do some serious damage against weaker opposition.

Kostitsyn will not be in the top 6 barring injuries

wether or not he gets PP time tho, remains to be seen. (i for one think hes maybe the 2nd or 3rd most important powerplay player we have)

Why would you have him ranked so high?

I'd have him as between the 4-6/7th best powerplay forward Montreal has with Cammaleri, Pacioretty and Plekanec being the current top three and Kostitsyn, Gomez, Gionta and maybe Desharnais making up the 2nd tier.

Because i firmly beleive so.

up a man, kostitsyn can be a devastating player (even more so 4 on 3)

I think people are being rather foolish in saying he won't be in the top 6.

A season is 82 games and Martin spoke himself of a top 9 as opposed to a top 6. That pretty much means all the 9 players can be switched around. If Cole is slow to get started and doesn't seem to click much with Plek/Cammy, then I can see Martin try to bring back AK to that duo.
Anything can happen, to think a 20G-45pt scorer can't end up on the top 6 unless it's due to injuries is rather foolish imo.

Except as an injury replacement, it's implausible that Palushaj will become a top 6 forward.

I agree 100% with this. Stuff changes over the course of a season.

At the end of the year he'll probably have averaged around 13+ minutes of ES and 2+ minutes of PP time which is essentially what a top six player plays. Who he plays it with will vary according to need, especially since you can expect at least one of the top nine to be injured for most of the games.

Not bad but first line is wayyy to small. Cole or AK or MaxPac needs to complete that line.. though a 3rd line with MP-Eller-AK looks awesome.

I get the feeling that if he's put on the 3rd line, he'll sulk and his production will dip. I hope a drop to 3rd inspires him to play better but I think it will go the other way.

He played some solid hockey with Eller on the 3rd/4th line last season

i agree that he may do that, but i actually beleive, a sulking AK playing on the 3rd line with someone like eller and perhaps DD facing less tougher opposing lines/ d pairing is STILL good enough for 20 goals.

thats why im so excited to be honest, im banking on andrei finding it a bit "easier" to play on the 3rd line and hopefully production can be somewhat plentiful

He started the year hot with Pleks and then was taken off that line. He was never the same.

It's a shame that we're hoping for 20 goals out of him because he has 40 goal talent. On the flipside though, you're right about getting 20 goals out of a third liner. If that happens it's a good thing.

Maybe A.K. will play on the top-six.............. Elsewhere !

I think the third line will be a successful one this year. And A.K. might have the chance to score 30, playing against weaker opponents.

That's the three lines I think I, as well as plenty of others, see the Habs icing.

Say what you will, Andrei will have a great season this year (maybe his best yet), and this being a season at the end of which he'll be looking for a contract, he will probably show an honest effort on most nights.
