I would really like to see the Islanders bring back what was in my opinion, the best goal song in hockey, Rock and Roll Part 1 by Gary Glitter. I think the real reason the goal song was pulled was the result of some of our immature and trashy fans chanting "you suck" during the song. Its a shame because it would be nice to hear the old song when the team gets to the point where they become a contender.
I don't see how yelling "you suck" at a freaking hockey game makes you trashy... But that song is history no matter how much complaining people do Moulson addressed it shortly after announcing he was in charge of picking the song he said (paraphrasing) that the team doesn't want to associate themselves with Gary glitter and what he's done.. Which sucks but I don't blame them
You don't have to think that was the reason, the Islanders said as much.
I liked it too, but its time to move on. Matt Moulson is apparently in charge of the song-picking committee. Let's hope he doesn't eff it up.
Is there a fan vote? If so, anyone know what the choices are? I liked the Nickelback song Burn it to the Ground but they played a lame version of it when they tried that two years ago.

Anyone who knowingly participates, knowing that there are tons of kids and families around, is trashy. There's no argument necessary. There's no excuse. What are we supposed to call it? Classy? We can all go to a hockey game and support our team with out having to repeatedly chant "you suck" at a goalie who, on most nights, is far better than our fragile, overpaid, dead piece of a goalie, who is signed until the invention of time travel.

Your post literally made me crack up at my desk. Please post more often.
It speaks for the hopes of both the organization and fanbase, and it even keeps within the unspoken rule that the best goal songs are generally in 6/8 time (Rock & Roll pt. 2, Satriani's Crowd Chant, etc.)
"Higher Ground" is the goal for this season; I can't think of anything better, and by win #25 in late January (), it'll be responsible for goosebumps back and forth across the Coliseum.

Reason: Fixed YT link.
Moulson was asking fans what they thought of this song the other day......
i hope that's not it.... really, i'm hoping he comes up with something motivating or ominous or intimidating.... or all three combined. or at least with some soul. one way or the other, you're looking to pump your team and deflate the other.
Moulson wants 'Kickstart my Heart'. I think that's fine.
I'll take it as well. As long as it's not a ****** techno song, or something that's overused (Bro Hymn) or from a band that claims to be hard rock/metal but that actually gets played on soft rock radio (Nickleback, Doughtry and the like) I'm satisfied.
I saw someone suggest the "ooooh"s from Weezer's Dope Nose on loop. I've been basically pimping that since I saw that mentioned. Its be real fun, easy to catch on to & just has a good feel to it.
The remixed Nickelback song sounded too much like the Rangers' goal song, imo. I'm fine with anything else, to be honest. Heck, I didn't mind the one last season. Higher Ground would be cool though. I'd really like them to bring back the old air raid siren. That was intimidating. While we're at it, we fans should bring back the old "Let's Go Islanders" chant. Look up some old YouTube videos. Sometime in the 90s we changed the chant cadence. Used to be more like "let's go islanDERS" rather than "LET'S go ISLANders"
However, I'm gonna miss the live is life song. It made us unique and I think Konopka was right. Oh well, I'm sure not everyone agrees I guess life is life.
Damn dude that took me back to my clubbing days but lets not.. its bad enough some places pick Zombie Nation and we dont need any more Long Island Hammer Heads on 4 loko dancing like ******. Besides Sandstorm is more like a beginning song before all hell breaks loose then a goal song.
