Yotes-Flyers

To Yotes:
Erik Gustaffson

To Flyers:
Chris Summers

Yotes get an up and coming offensive D-Man.

Flyers get a prospect stagnating in the Yotes system and try and groom him.

Thoughts?

Your proposal and reasoning are backwards. The Flyers are piss-poor in developing defensemen in the minors, so why would we trade someone who is closer to the NHL than the guy we're getting back?

Gustaffson led the Phantoms in rookie and d man scoring. He could be in the NHL this year.

So, why are we trading him for a defensemen, who by your words, has gone stagnant in his development?

So why would Philly trade him?

No space for him. Lilja's awful contract forces him to be on the roster, and there's not enough cap room for his ELC. Plus Bartulis is cheaper.

Is Chris Summers going to make it? I really liked him during his draft year. Perhaps the changing of positions has been hard. To be honest, I haven't followed him much in recent years but I'm certainly rooting for him

I think Summers is ready, but Phoenix has loads of young defensemen trying to earn a spot (Gormley, OEL, Goncharov, Stone, Schlemko).

We don't need anymore young defensemen.

Yes there is. It's a competition in camp, first off. It's also called organizational depth.

So why do we want to rid him for a worse prospect lol. Are you being serious.

Actually Summers is NHL ready as a dependable bottom pairing d-man. As long as he is waiver exempt, he will likely start off in Portland. But the trade itself doesn't make any sense from a Coyote's point of view.

From a Coyotes perspective, I rather keep Summers.

For once they didn't rush a prospect and suddenly he's gone stagnant?

He will be a very reliable player for the Coyotes once he gets his chance. Such a great skater.

That's the key though, will he? Unless there is injury I can easily see him being semi-permanently stuck in the log jam behind Vets and Gormley/OEL.

Summers is the perfect type of player to move for some forward prospect depth where the Yotes are quite weak.

I think there is a pretty good chance Summers will make the team this year but I would not be surprised if we do ship a dman or two. We do have a logjam at that position. I wished the same was true for forwards. I think Schlemko would be the most likely to be shopped. Summers is more defensive shutdown kind of guy which we do not have many of so I think he would stay.

The last group Philly should deplete is their defensive prospects.
