I understand your thinking, and respect it but I disagree with as I think he has good potential to surprise and do well in the NHL in a few years. You're entitled to your opinion, like I have my own. Neither of us are right or wrong.

Same here, if he doesn't pan out, we still have Kristo and Gallagher to develop, and if he does in fact do well, all the better as we will have great depth on the RW.

And since Gallagher impressed at the training camp and Avtsin and Kristo can only do better than their last respective years, we are on the right path
yeah. we'll have to be patient

nobody is questioning the skill, im questioning his intensity

I know, his intensity isn't that bad he just needs to use a bit more when the game get more physical and use his body more.

Is there a chance we will get to see Avtsin in a pre-season game this year?

I know last year JM refused to play him...

There were questions about how his wrist was healing this time last year which I think I had more to do with him not playing than anything else. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't get a look this year.

All of the excuses you made contribute to the reasoning of why I believe JR would have been betterfor his adjustmnent to North America.

I'm curious, for all the people who think him playing a bottom 6 role in Hamilton last year was better for his developmentthan adjusting to NA in Jr.

Can you guys also explain why do you think HF would project Kristo who has significantly less offensive skill than avtsin to be a better prospect at this point.

Kristo does not have significantly less offensive skills then Avtsin. They are not that far apart skill wise imo. I personally consider Kristo a better prospect because his compete level is much higher and he's not as raw as Avtsin who struggled with his overall game.

Avtsin's pure skill/creativity is much higher than Kristo's, but you're right. Kristo understands the game better and is more likely to make the NHL/be effective. Basically he's a "safer pick."

Kristo can be a shifty player as well, both create offense so I wouldn't say Avtsin's skill/creativity is much higher. Avtsin can pull off some nice moves but the problem is that he's usually not very noticable, Kristo on the other hand always seems to be buzzing around the net trying to make things happen.

I think people tend to confuse "offensive skill" with "being flashy".

I'm not saying Avstin doesn't have offensive skill. he does. It is just that being able to deke d-men with shifty move doesn't mean he has more skill than, let's say, a Shanahan type of player.

That IS skill though. You're thinking of hockey IQ.

No I'm not.

I know that it is skill. What I'm saying is that a Shanahan-type of player has other type of skills, and could even be more skilled than a flashy player.

But I guess it is just a matter of understanding the word "skill" differently.

He seems to have the right attitude from this article and the one previously posted. Its good that he acknowledges and realizes that he's got a bit of work before he's NHL ready. People underrate the important of a players outlook and attitude, it really will affect how hard they work on their goals.

The fact that he only spent half the summer in Russia and came back early to train is good. He's committed.
