Too bad Stone doesn't play D. We could sign Clayton Stoner as a UFA next offseason and have a pairing of Stone - Stoner (or, as I'd call them, Cheech and Chong).

Could be wrong, but I beleive it is only 18, where it is NHL or back to CHL.
After that it could Jr or AHL, if not the big club.
I would guess Sens would be happy if Stone could do the Worlds.

looks like the odds of him making the team this year have improved from one-in-a-million.......to slim-to-none

Nope, he needs to step up in a big way to even be considered for an entry level contract. With the depth in the organization, he is a candidate to be traded for an asset at the signing deadline.

Mark Stone, love the signing

Stone gets 550/year with a 270k signing bonus. I'll try to check incentives tomorrow.

I didnt like that little failed backhand pass in front of the net when he should have shot. One other play he made was a bit disappointing but I forget it. Besides that, he looked quite good, I agree.

His skating doesn't look like a glaring problem at all this game. He's been able to keep up nicely. He's no Cheechoo out there at least.

CapGeek shows the signing bonus as $240K ($80K per year), with the NHL salary of $605K. $630K, $655K. Cap hit $630K.

I miscopied the signing bonus, but the way you are saying it isn't quite right (or maybe just isnt too clear) either. The 240k signing bonus comes on top of an NHL salary that averages out to 550/year. His actual salary is 525, 550, 575.
His max incentives over the 3 years are 800k and they are all for games played.

Not just directed at you Otto, but in general fans are being way too critical of many of the prospects. I sometimes get the feeling that Sens fans are falling into two categories, the over optimistic and the over critical/pessimistic.

Stone, along with ever other prospect that played last night made mistakes. However the true test is whether he learns from them and makes the necessary adjustments.

If the kids don't progress, then it is fair to critique, otherwise it is just nitpicking.

Yeah I wasnt really being critical, it was more just pointing out that he looked a bit overwhelmed. Nothing against him, he just struck me as the kind of guy who needs a bit of time to get comfortable at the pro level. Thats pretty much all that would be expected anyways

He wasn't mentioned much with all your other high draft picks in the rookie tournament or the game against the Leafs last night but I though he was a very effective player for you. I can see this guy having a good NHL run some day.

Yeah he didn't look all that out of place. Way ahead of the game for a 19 year old 6th rounder. Great shot at playing for Canada at Christmas.

His stride will continue to need work but it does look smoother. And his foot speed was actually pretty good for a guy that needs a lot of skating work. Did a decent job on the wall and made some good decisions.

Signing Bonus does not count on the salary cap the performance bonus do. So the 80k a year is his no matter if he makes the club or not over the next three year then his salary would kick in and on Cap geek it is over 600 a year.

I went back and check and i am wrong it does count in the salary. here is what the cap has.

NHL SALARY: The player's total salary in a given season, including signing bonuses.

P. BONUSES: The maximum value of performance bonuses the player can earn in a given season. This amount is factored into the cap hit.

S. BONUS: The amount of NHL salary that is paid as a signing bonus in a given season. Zero indicates no signing bonus; long dash indicates no data available.

CAP HIT: The player's cap hit in a given season, assuming no performance bonuses have been ruled unattainable.
