Really the only guy that wasnt impressive tonight was JVR. It will be interesting to see which of the young guys can do it for more than one game. Read certainly looked like an NHL player

OMG a ****ing shutout. Just end it now, don't even bother to play the season and give us the cup. Save everyone the time.

Real excited if this the style/tempo we are going to bring this year. We will wear down teams with a hard forecheck and have the skill to bury turnovers. Our defense should smuggle other teams and we have one of the top duos in net in all of the NHL. If we have solid special teams, this team will have some success. I saw a lineup earlier that intrigued me and I like it even more now after seeing Matt Read. Forget where I saw it so I will just post it myself.

JVR-Giroux-Simmonds
Read-Briere-Jagr
Hartnell-Schenn-Voracek
Nodl-Betts-Talbot

Shelley
Sestito
Rinaldo

Pronger-Carle
Timonen-Coburn
Meszaros-Bartulis/Lilja/Gus

Bryz
Bob

We have plenty of trade assets to add at the deadline as well if we can clear some space. This team has some serious potential.

Preseason or not, that's the way to start of a season. Bob eanred that shut out, he looked great and never got caught out of position too much. He also didn't go butterfly way too early like he did at times last year. JVR, step it up buddy.

There were no shutouts in the preseason last year were there? That's why mentioned the Leighton shutout curse is over but not certain?

I could live with that lineup. I also liked what I saw from a lot of the Phantoms, I think they may be a playoff team this year if they keep doing what they were doing at the end of last season

Bobrovsky was easily our best player tonight I think. Composed and quietly did his job. Made some great down low saves and a couple near point blank ones.

Read showed some good creativity and speed. Especially for a relative nobody.

I don't wanna give Rinaldo credit because I don't want him to make the team, but he showed some great speed and forechecking ability as well as nice hands on that goal.

Schenn's line played great all-around. Special credit to Simmmonds for doing everything great. Nice goal of his too.

Voracek showed some great defense and vision. That assist to Rinaldo was very impressive.

really good job boys, you should be proud of some of the young players that were shown. I was very much impressed with Bob and Simmonds. I am still curious on what you are going to do with this guy, hes special for sure.

As humorous as this may sound...Toronto dressed more of an NHL team than the Flyers did.

Why so much hate on Rinaldo in this thread? The kid can play. He'll make this team...bank it.

I liked what I saw from Zol. You can't teach speed, and he has plenty of it. If he works on developing his fore check, and taking care of his own end, I can see him being a fourth line guy for us a few years down the road. Like a harder to pronounce Powe
