Bobrovsky is going to be very good this year

...because he won't have the pressure of being the number 1.

He has all world abilities. So to me, the results with Bob are almost ALL mental.

With Bryz having the contract, #1 title, and expectations, Bob will be dynamite for the games that he does play.

Discuss.

Do we really know that Bob cant handle pressure though? He really was not given much a chance last year during the playoffs.

One game... Jynx thread.

I will agree that he looks like he's 100% ready for the season though.

I just remember that playoff game where he got lit up. He had that one shot go over his shoulder because he went down waaaay to quick.

I think that was the last game he got into.

I do believe that Bob can be mentally tough down the road. But he got a lot of responsibility in his first year in NA.

...I think Bryz being here will relieve any responsibility or pressure that Bob had last year. I think because of this, whenever Bob does play, he'll play well.

I also think Bob will covet this ice time, and wants to be "the guy."

If Bryz happens to get injured this year, I imagine Bob will go in and play like a #1

Bob looks like he has righted some significant wrongs. Dare I say it, he looks like he has taken some tips from Bryzgalov. Looked very similar to his style tonight.

Right some "technical" wrongs?

I honestly posted this thread without tonights game in mind. But I guess the Shutout isn't a bad start.

Yup, going down early, looking small and hunched in net, flopping around in the crease. Didn't do any of that tonight

He had a meltdown after a 1-0 loss. He felt he let the team down. I'm not worried though, he'll get better.

He looked great tonight, making ridiculous save after save, and making it look effortless. However, you have to put it into perspective. Let's not start the 'trade bryz' talk just yet...

Very nice and a bit ironic to see him finally get a shutout though haha

He started fast last year too, but of course this year we won't see how the wear and tear effects him in his second season, unless Bryz gets injured.

This is the first time I've ever said this in my life...

I am very comfortable with our goaltending tandem.

My only concern is that since Bryz is the savor, will Bob be able to develop properly playing only 15 games or so?

If I was PL, I would play Bryz 55, Bob 27

this. even though it was only a preseason game against toronto, this is the first time in 25 years the last thing we need to worry about is goaltending. also, it was a mistake to pull him from the playoffs last year. what's done is done but that was retarded

Bob has made some nice adjustments to his game, just as he as made adjustments in his life. The lad just married recently, is learning more English, etc,,,,He probably feels more grounded now and is just more relaxed.....He looked very solid tonight, and has a better glove than i thought he had... And don't think for one minute that BOB ain't gonna do his best to go toe to toe with Bryz....They are both competitive and will push each other, which will be good for them and the team.

If bob has indeed corrected his problems from last yr remeber its only one preseason gm and it was the leafs he may be traded at the TDL and hopefully we get a good return or we just may have two good goalies............

I believe Bobrovsky has shown how stupid Holmgren was this offseason. He looks like a #1 goaltender at the moment and that Bryzgalov was not needed, especially for a team that will be younger this season. When you have a 21 year old goaltender play as well as he did last season you go out and get a good veteran goaltender. The difference between Bobrovsky and Bryzgalov isn't likely to being much more then a win or two over the course of the season.

The same return someone like Halak got or what Bernier or Schnieder would get. Goaltenders don't have a whole lot of value in trade unless it is a veteran star.

I hope Holmgren reasoned with Bryz and got a contract signed without a movement clause. For that rate, we have to be able to trade him if he falls off in performance or Bobrovsky pushes him out of the crease.

He has a NMC. The organization pretty much didn't negotiate at all, they just said "please let us keep your cap hit from being too enormous"
