Rats.
I was holding off drafting Selanne in an e-mail draft because he hadn't signed a new deal (and wasn't sure if he was going to come back for one more year).
30 minutes after my last pick, the Ducks announced Selanne signed a one-year deal.

As a Liverpool supporter, I'm happy for the Dallas Stars to be rid of this ********* (if they remain in Dallas, of course).

Reason: that is censored? If I'd known I'd called him something much, much worse

Tom Gaglardi tried to buy the Canucks a few years ago; he should be a pretty good owner for the Stars.
He has the passion for a NHL team, at least.

Sounds like Darroll Powe might be Brendan Shanahan's first customer.

Whoops. What has he done?

Columbus might not be hell on earth after all.
Umberger just signed a 5-year contract extension with a NTC. I kind of wanted to see him return here.

Umberger played his college hockey in Columbus at Ohio State. Columbus also isn't that far from Pittsburgh, where he grew up.
Not really an unexpected development that he re-upped there.

Yeah, I wasn't really expecting him not to re-sign with them. I really liked him as a player though, having a guy who can fill in on pretty much any position in your lineup is really valuable.

Mike Modano retired with 1499 games played.
Only Selanne remains from the 1988 draft, according to TSN.

Powe took a major for boarding. Doesn't sound like anything else is happening though.

Brendan Shanahan has given out his first suspension, and former Phantom Matt Clackson is involved. Though, he is the one getting hit.
I love the way he is presenting this, here in Sweden the disciplinary committee sends out a press release that makes no sense until the third reading or so.
Shanahan show and tell

I'm going to hate seeing Salanne retire.

Between Fedoruk, Parent, Baumgartner, and Dimitrakos, it appears that Vancouver is where you go when your NHL career has crashed and burned.

Lot of Philly picks because I couldn't stop being a homer.
Liking Stamkos, Giroux, and Toews as my centers
