Rene Robert

A player who often is forgotten is Rene Robert. The third member of Buffalo's famed French Connection line. What do you remember most about him? I remember how he was not on the '76 Canada Cup team. And does anyone remember why Buffalo got such a bad deal for him when they traded him away?

Rene Robert was sometimes too outspoken and that didn't help his career.
In his prime, Robert was a star who scored a few important overtime goals.

Robert was the right wing triggerman on the French Connection line, who could score almost as well as Rick Martin (the left wing). He apparently said a few things he should have thought better of, but can you imagine that happening today? It would never happen! A 40-goal scorer could **** the owner's daughter these days and stay with the team!

If they were pissed at him, that explains why they sent him to the Rockies.

Can anyone remember why the Sabres were pissed at him? I can't. And what did he say out of line?
