Gillis doesn't even pick up the phone & starts laughing at the idea of going to the Ducks GM with this proposal.

At this point, Anaheim wouldn't trade Fowler for Edler straight up, let alone consider Ryan for Edler.

And you think adding Raymond, a low 1st and a prospect is going to snatch both of them?

Fowler was like -25 last year. Granted he put up good offensive numbers....

Anyways I thought the proposal would get a second look by Ducks fans. Guess I was wrong. Just wanted to get other opinions. Feel free to lock this mods. I don't wanna be brandished more.

Ok I think they would trade Fowler for Edler straight up. That's just me though.

kesler for ryan makes them listen, but they'd still probably say no.

First off, I don`t know if the money works. Anaheim is close to their internal budget, so they can`t take on any salary.

Assume that adding Blake on their side is a mandatory part in order to get the trade off the ground.

With that, the original package isn`t terrible as a starting point, it would just require that you add to it.

Something like:
Edler
CoHo
Schneider or Lack
another prospect like Sauve or Jensen
+ a first

might work for

Ryan
Fowler
Blake

but even that Anaheim would have to think about.

Ryan, maybe. Fowler too? You're out of your mind.

Bobby Ryan is a potential 40-goal scorer and Fowler is a young star defense man. Even if the value was there, those two players figure largely in Anaheim's plans for the future.

Even if they were negotiable, the value is still not there. Maybe Edler+ for Ryan, but not with Fowler too. Raymond is the kinda guy you'd trade for a 2nd pairing defense man when he's healthy. Fowler is a young star defense man and Anaheim knows it. No way they'll give either up easily or cheaply.

Value wise: Fowler>Edler and Ryan=Kesler.

If that puts things into prospective..

Ryan is not a realistic possibility. Lets stick to Doan proposals.

This is ... Very idealistic. To the Ducks, Fowler+Ryan have probaby the same value as Kesler+Edler?

Not everyone will agree with me but I don't think the Canucks will acquire a top-6 forward (let alone one as highly regarded as Ryan), and I think their scoring won't be a problem.

Er no you couldn't be more wrong. Edler and Kesler have more substantial value than fowler and ryan.

Shhhh, it's HFBoards, where a young potential 40 goal scorer is more valuable than a prime-aged 40 goal scorer

I think Ryan scores 40 this year, fwiw.

We haven't seen the best of Ryan Kesler by a longshot IMHO.

................. perhaps.

Not even Roberto "let in 12 goals" in 2 games Luongo, would sweeten that deal enough. Get this deal out of here lol

Vancouver - Toronto

To Toronto:
Keith Ballard

To Vancouver:
Cody Franson
Pick/Prospect

Ballard is a smooth skating top 4 defender that plays a slightly risky game when at his best. Ballard works exceptionally well when paired with a stable stay at home defenceman, something the Canucks do not have on the right side but I believe Toronto does. (Komisarek, Schenn)

The Canucks get a RH defenceman that will help fill the inevitable departure to retirement or injury to Salo and increase the depth of RH defenceman overall.

While this trade may not work capwise at the moment for the Maple Leafs, does this trade seem reasonable perhaps on draft day? (Liles' 4.2 million dollar contract will expire this year)

Note that Canucks have a lot of LH defenceman (Hamhuis, Edler, Alberts, Rome) while the right side is a little bit more bare (Bieksa, injury prone Salo, Tanev). Your thoughts?

This doesn't help the Canucks at all. Since the Canucks are trying to win now, there is no point in trading someone in their prime for a worse player who is younger.

Buffalo will probably keep him regardless.

Buffalo would keep him if a pick was offered because they are in win-now mode. A pick doesn't help them. And they paid a 2nd at the deadline. After which, Boyes has played 3rd line or lower consistently.

He is a redundant piece in Buffalo, but they have little reason to move him. Unless of course they are trying to free up salary.

Good target because his value will be low.

Ok let me spell it out for you. Ballard is redundant, he doesn't fit well with the team given his inflexibility to play on the right side as well as him being paid 4.2 to play 13minutes. By trading him we get a rh defencemen w potential that is nhl ready. As well as that we open up cap space to search for a top6 winger if that is needed. In a sense we take a half step back to put 2 steps forward.
