C Logan Couture
D William Wrenn
2012 2nd round pick (from Minnesota)
RW Jarome Iginla
Why Sharks do this: Iginla is the best power-forward in the game, and this has to be the year for the Sharks. The new top line, Marleau-Thornton-Iginla, is probably the best in the league. The second line doesn't take that much of a hit, with Pavelski moving from the 1st line right wing to the second line center, in which he is more proven.
Why Flames do this: The moves Calgary has made this offseason have shown they are going into rebuild mode. There is no doubt Logan Couture has the potential to be a franchise player. He will lead the team through the rebuild and when they once again become contenders. Wrenn is a young, up-and-coming d-man that will prove useful.
Oh, you're serious? Couture is as untouchable as it gets. And Couture is a future top 15 center in the league.
I get why the Flames wouldn't want to give up Iggy, but Sharks don't touch that. Logan will probably put up almost as many goals as Iggy next year for waaaaaay less money.
Sharks wouldn't give up Couture who is a future star C for Iginla for a couple of season. Couture has a high ceiling whilst Iginla has peaked and will decline in a season or two. Calgary would do this however as they can get a star C for their rebuild and someone to build around. The value is their, just not the reason.

Are you serious? the only thing of value in that trade for the Flames is Couture. Flames hang up the phone on this, you don't even have a 1st rounder involved, your first mistake.

Couture is no where near the skill level of Iginla.
As a Flames fan, I wouldn't do this purely for selfish reasons (I want Iginla to retire in Calgary).
The Flames are rebuilding, they'd be stupid to turn down the chance of getting a potential #1 C and someone to build around with their prospects. Maybe they can add a 1st instead of a 2nd as well. Couture would be the center-piece of the franchise.

Regardless of whether or not the Flames are rebuilding, San Jose should be looking to beef up that defense which was curb stomped by the Sedins, not their offense.
Absolutely not. I don't even think it works cap wise for us. We didn't dump a $7m dollar forward just to pick up another. And Couture goes nowhere by the way.

You clearly know nothing about what the Flames are doing right now. Flames pass, Iggy isn't going anywhere right now.

Well I guess someone hasn't been following the offseason at all lol

You mean like getting rid of Wallin, Huskins, and Ian White and replacing them with Brent Burns, Colin White, and Vandermeer?
Bad for both teams, Flames would be looking for a 1st rounder + added on there and the sharks would be stupid to trade Couture right now as he is proving to be a very solid player.
The fact that Flames fans wouldn't do this proves they are just as bad as their GM.
Couture will outscore Iginla this year, by 10 points. Book it.
I really don't see that happening. They could be roughly equal in goals, but Couture will probably get 70 points tops whereas aside from that one off-year in 09-10, Iginla's been a consistent high 80s point producer. No way Couture gets 90+.
