Brendan Gallagher

Watching this kid play, i just cant help myself but think he will be a very productive player in the nhl not so far from now.
He's 19 and already got most of the tools of a good NHL'er.
Fast, hard working, protect the puck very well and a have great Hockey sense a la St.Louis.

When do you see him crack the lineup ?

No need to rush him and use him in a bottom 6 role. I say let him play this year in the WHL and next year in Hamilton and then he could be ready.

He plays with a lot of heart, you said it yourself he's 19(Looks 12, face lol). Years away(2-3), but if he keeps playing like that, then we have a nice asset.

1 more year in the WHL, and then turning pro, and then we'll see. Realistically, he should play one season in the AHL (with maybe a short call up) before being promoted for good. But it always depends on how he progress - a good camp remains just a good camp.

But he's definitively impressive.

i'm telling you this kid is going to be something special. chip on his shoulder...great skater, bigger than listed and he scored 40+ goals in the W. let him play in the WJC and 1 year in the A..and then give him a shot at cracking top 9

He's even a more important defenseman than Emelin!

Bigger than listed.........really?? I know your excited but you are reaching on that one.

Small players are NEVER bigger than their listed size unless you are going by an outdated listing.

Man, he's exciting!

He works his ass off. If we were a rebuilding team I could see us keeping both Gallagher and Beaulieu on the team. These are guys that are obviously too skilled for Junior yet too young for the AHL. Fortunately (unfortunately?) we have depth so we don't need them on the team, but in two years they'll both make a big jump and we'll have a strong, young core.

Much better hands and one-on-one skills than Gionta. He's probably got better hockey sense too. He could be special.

With ice-time do you think he could have a season similar to Jeff Skinner's rookie campaign?

Let's develop him until there's ACTUALLY an opening in the top six.

Your asking too much there, he needs to be developed. Correctly.

this

Maybe on a team with a serious lack of top 6 talent , i would give him 18 minutes / game like Skinner had last season, and then ..yes maybe he could get 40-50 points

He's lacking the footspeed that Skinner has. God can that guy fly on the ice. Brendan improved his first few steps but his speed/acceleration isn't good enough yet. Give a year or two still.

Yeah Gallagher speed will hold him back from now.

He has improved quite clearly and he could definately compete at the nhl level as of now but he needs to improve it again if he ever want to become a st.louis/gionta type of player. I'm exited about him and would maybe even consider giving him a contract and 1 or 2 real nhl games before sending him down. That would give him a better idea on how fast is the NHL.

Maybe we should have him sit out the WHL season and send him to the world figure skating championships for development.

Hi guys,

Couldn't watch the game as I had a practice and the game wasn't televised. Just out of curiosity, how did Avtsin, Gallagher, and Tinordi look today? What were their strengths and weaknesses and who played the best out of the 3?
