Dan Focht

Just wanted to say that I was really impressed with the way Focht took the body in the Carolina game. He is really starting to look comfortable and I see his game improving.

I like Focht's physical play, but he is still prone to brain farts on occasion...hopefully he can work on that....but the Pens D has improved from last years....I was so happy when I actually saw Devils getting knocked off the puck tonight instead of seeing Penguins D bouncing off of them.....

We're already starting to miss Moran because of his excellent scapegoat qualities.

He would do it on the PP as well

Moran should NEVER be on a powerplay.

Moran should be on stage at "Catch a rising star!" Or "Miss a defensive assignment!" Boy, that felt like the old days.

Focht may brain toot on occasion, but at least he's big enough to take the body. Focht makes Bergevin look like Moran. Huh?

Dan Focht?

You know, I think about posting on this forum all the time. I play in an online league, so I'm constantly trying to read up on young players. But I'm from Pittsburgh, so I read this board just to see what others are saying about them.

Dan Focht. My God. This guy is amazingly terrible, and that someone in the world exists is starting a POSITIVE thread on the guy made me fall out of my chair. I know everyone has their own opinion, but I just don't see any silver lining here.

Last night there were at least three instances alone where Focht made a bonehead play that resulted in a scoring chance for New Jersey. Not only does he skate poorly and move the puck poorly, he doesn't even take the body all that effectively, despite his frame.

Now, I realize picking out poor defensive play on this team is hard, considering they ALL suck. Berehowsky and Tarnstrom are TERRIBLE, and Bergevin is probably the worst. Orpik has been decent, considering his inexperience. But even he has not shown the flashes of greatness than a first round pick should. Has he flattened anyone yet? Where are the big hits he's supposed to bring to the defense?

What's even more sad is that the forwards are actually playing good defense this year. It's very clear the forwards have bought into Edzo's system, and the goaltending has been great. Heck, even Lemieux is backchecking.

But this corps of defensmen are just atrocious, and Focht is hardly an exception.
