Bring on the Valetenko fanboys.

McIlrath still around, Stajcer third goalie.

Rangers still have 21 forwards. Torts wants to bring 18-19 to Europe.

Looks like McIlrath is going to Europe. 11 D.

Rangers freed up 2 SPCs with Miller and Thomas being assigned to the OHL.

Very surprising that Stajcer is the 3rd goalie.

Surprises:
- Talbot sent down after his performance
- Stajcer still up
- Bickel still up

No surprise:
- Valentenko... just didn't cut it

Too bad:
- J.T. Miller already being sent back to juniors

So no Valentenko, which is not surprising after last night's performance.

Props to McIlrath and Bourque for surviving the first round of cuts.

Ehh maybe its just that Chad and Talbot already played so they will play Stajer this last game, cut him and take just Marty and Hank to Europe.

Ehh maybe you've seen one of the 9 million posts that Torts said he'd take three goalies to Europe

I think I'm one of the few with this opinion: McIlrath has looked pretty good this preseason. He's still extremely young, but the more time he can spend around the big team the better awareness he'll have as to what it takes to be a professional athlete.

Since this will be Miller's first time playing in the OHL, I don't think it's a bad idea to give him more time to gel with his teammates during their pre-season.

Yogan was returned to Peterborough as an overager instead of assigning him to the AHL.

I totally agree, just a shame 'cus he did quite well, would have been a nice reward plus to see him in action again

Kind of blows that they can't find a spot for Yogan in Hartford, but have room - at least for now - for Jordan Hickmott, Tayler Jordan, Kale Kerbashian and Chris McKelvie...

I think it's pretty clear that we're not going to keep any goalies besides Hank and Biron, so I think the reason Stajcer is still here is because the other guys each got a game and he didn't. He'll get half of the Monday game and then get sent down.

Pleased to see McI will get another game or two. Would love to see him continue to play like he did Wednesday. Would have liked to see Miller get an extra game, not because I thought he'd make it but just because he's an exciting young player to watch and the experience can't be bad for him. Not surprised about Thomas. Not surprised about Vtank either. Had a few 'discussions' with people here who argued he could be one of our six d-men going into this year and voiced the opinion that he's lucky to ever have an NHL career, let alone be in our starting six. Feeling a little vindicated there, considering I was told by at least one or two posters that I was severely underrating him and all he could bring to the table.

Thought McColgan or Miller could have earned one more game, just for fun, over one of Newbury, Deveaux or Thuresson, but I guess they want to get Thuresson into a game?

Keep in mind that Newbury would need to pass through waivers to be sent to the AHL. This could be a simple paper transaction of keeping him on the NHL camp roster until it's time to send all waiver eligible guys down at the same time.

Kundratek didn't play in a pre-season game. He played in the AHL game yesterday. He was cut. Valentenko got 1 pre-season game before he was cut. Ouch.

Quote:
Defenseman Pavel Valentenko really did not have a good game against the Devils in last night’s 4-3 preseason win and, in general, the 6-foot-2, 225-pound Valentenko did not have a good training camp, showing little of the hard shot or physical play that got him noticed last season. The 23-year-old (24 in October) went on to have five goals, 12 assists and 38 penalty minutes in 79 games last season for Connecticut (AHL) and while he was assigned back to the Whale, there have been rumblings he’ll instead head back to Russia.

I could see them playing Stajcer next game then sending him down and taking one of Talbot or Johnson instead. If he is the 3rd G yes it is surprising

so with Vtank down is he going through waivers or what? So many conflicting reports.

Bickel is still around , lol..................cue the bringing in a vet Dman

I imagine Thuresson gets in the next preseason game then down.......same with Deveaux and Bourque. Goon just in case and Ryan rewarded for his good camp

Bickel over Kundratek and Valentenko is surprising, even when both had a bad camp. Also they'll take 3 goalies to Europe, right? Stajcer there would certainly be a surprise as well.
