Interesting. That means Parker and Varone are still with the big club for now.

Still, they have to follow protocol. Fienhage still doesn't have a contract, so he's playing for pay.

Parker is in Rochester as of yesterday per his comments on Twitter, not sure about Varone.

MacKenzie is also not under contract...the fact he was assigned to Rochester instead of returned to juniors is very interesting.

According to this, http://sabres.nhl.com/v2/ext/2011-12...0923/Notes.pdf, it appears like Parker, Leggio, Finley, and Varone are down in Rochester and Turnbull, Legault, and Biega are still with Buffalo.

Thanks for the link. I'd missed that.

The question I have is which one is right? Both links are from sabres.nhl.com, so it's not like one source is more reliable than the other.

I thought Biega would have been a little premature.

Those were the game notes, so supported by other circumstantial evidence like Parker's tweets, it may be that all the guys reportedly assigned have been assigned, combining both sources.

Or. Not.

I suspect it may simply be an oversight on them not mentioning some of the other kids being assigned previous to today.

Does that mean that Boychuk and MacKenzie have earned themselves a(n entry-level) contract?

Not necessarily. Feinhage isn't signed either and he's been assigned. But it may mean that they are thinking about it. With how clogged the blueline is down there, I'm more partial to having MattMac go back to the 'dub, play bigger minutes, etc... than be shuttled in and out on the farm. Boychuk though may be in line for a deal since McCauley is still holding out and Riley is very much cut from a similar cloth. If Dennis stays away, Riley likely has the inside track on that spot.

According to Kris Baker, no. They are getting looked at though.

For what it's worth, Forecaster has these guys sent down. They're usually fairly reliable.

Jeff Jakaitis (G)
Matt Mackenzie (D)
Corey Fienhage (D)
Nick Crawford (D)
Alex Biega (D)
Mark Voakes (C)
Travis Turnbull (C/RW)
Shawn Szydlowski (RW)
Maxime Legault (RW)
Jacob Lagace (LW)
Riley Boychuk (LW)
