[PIT] Boris Valabik; CLEARED: Avery, Gillies, King.
Is Godard hurt or something? Dallas just signed him like 2 months ago, kind of weird to waive him before he even plays a regular season game. Godard is tough as nails, a top 3 fighter in the league IMO, and not as bad at hockey as some enforcers, he's a surprising waive IMO (unless he's hurt?).
In case you're wondering, why the flood today - it's the first day a team can waive a player for loan to the AHL/Europe/etc
Today is the start of the "Playing Season Waiver Period", which begins on the 12th day prior to the start of the Regular Season. A player cannot be loaned unless they clear waivers during that Period. Any players waived earlier in the off season would have to be waived again in order to be loaned.
Is it because they are both from Quebec or because they have size.
Just so you know both Bouchard and Chaput don't use their size at all. Bouchard the softer one out of the two. If its because they are french players they won't make the big club.
Waste of space really and it takes development from our players we already have in the system who are trying to make the big club.
francois bouchard is a guy that could be picked up by a team looking for a talented 4th liner to push their top-6.
Bouchard hasn't shown he can do anything in a AHL top-6 role without Mathieu Perreault centering him. Pushing an NHL top-6? Not a chance. Even playing as an NHL 4th liner is way beyond him.
His deal is 2-way this year. We unfortunately still have a year to go on Krys Barch's contract, which is one-way. Barch would not be claimed on waivers and has no trade value. The Stars, in their financial situation, aren't going to spend an extra 700k to have a different enforcer/13th forward. Godard was signed more for 2012-13.
Too bad what is going on here with some of these guys. It is not because they are all non Nhl calibre players, it is just that their salaries are 'too high' because of the stupid salary cap. Cost certainty certainly costs eh? In this case it may cost some guys their NHL careers.
