Puck Support and Positioning

The leafs are horrible at this

The coaches have to get on the players about 3 specific problems in this last game vs buffalo

if the puck is in Toronto's end, Toronto MUST outnumber the opponent where the puck is. Unless its a 5on3 or the puck is at the point. If all 3 buffalo forwards are in the corner, AT LEAST 3 maple leaf players should be.

On the powerplay in the offensive zone, Toronto MUST outnumber the opponent. If Buffalo sends all 4 players behind the goal line (which they did tonight) Toronto needs all 3 forwards and at least 1 dman pinching in.

This also happened when we pulled the goalie, Buffalo had more puck support then Toronto did even though we had the extra player.

You probably wont get the puck is your outnumbered.

Gardiner's been impressive, no doubt about that. But I don't think the numbers will allow him to make the squad right out of camp. Send him down, get big minutes in the AHL for most of the year, give him a couple cups of coffee when NHLers are injured... I don't see an issue with that plan.

I'd rather see him getting big minutes on the Marlies to start off than being the 6th or 7th man on the big club.

Gardiner looked great again. Grabovski played good as well. Frattin looked solid also.

I doubt that. He really has nothing to prove during exhibition.

i remember seeing him go into the buffalo zone, and i was saying to myself "watch him catch up with the buffalo forward" and boom there he was. really sad to see him go down if that's the case. anyways i agree with the rest here about the three g's having a good game. the rest, not so much.

Significant cut coming tomorrow? Hmmmm. I don't think if it was Aulie it would be that significant. Now Komi on the other hand, that carries some significance.

by "significant cut" Burke is talking about one more big ROUND of cuts, not one particular player.

the leafs will be down to 26-27 players tommorrow, after the last significant cut.

Game was kinda painful to watch. Can't wait to have the full squad up and running.

No hustle and our big bodied players are not playing like big bodied players, I bet it's playing 5 games in 6 nights so let's hope they show more spirit next game.

The thing to remember is that Aulie is waiver exempt.

It's only the pre-season guys. Calm down. Wait until October 1st when we ice our full lineup against Detroit before complaining about what this team is doing wrong.

I doubt it; everyone knows tomorrow they are announcing a cut. Why say "big cut"? or what's actually said, "ATLEAST one big cut"?

Clearly seems like we will be with 7 D-men by tomorrow evening.

I very much doubt they cut it down to 7 tomorrow. I think if we're going to go with 7 D, then it will be the very last cut we make.

Significant cut means for the amount of players cut, not a significant player.

Yeap, immediately realised about that (ie being down to 7 Dmen) since we will have 1 more cut by start of season. But the way its described, link said "atleast one big cut".. now, you don't make 2 cuts of players in same day.
