Regular season lines set?

http://www.blueshirtbanter.com/2011/...ines?ref=yahoo

these are the lines the rangers are practicing with today according to andrew gross

Wolski-Richards-Gaborik,
Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan,
Fedotenko-Boyle-Prust,
Rupp-Stepan-Zuccarello.

Staal-Girardi,
McDonagh-Sauer,
Del Zotto-Eminger

Lundqvist and Stajcer the goalies on ice.

not exactly a fan but knowing torts these will be changed by the end of the month

I like those lines, think it is what it should be.

I just think the 3rd line should be Feds-Stepan-Avery and the 4th line should be Rupp-Boyle-Prust.

I think they should give Del Zotto a chance right away, Erixon will get his chance.

I hope these arent the lines because to me this is pretty much wasting Stepan and Zucc by having them play with Rupp. Id be happier with Boyle or Fedetenko switching with Rupp

by far my least favorite thing about these combos is stepan on the 4th line. boyle is much more fitting of a 4th line center and while he obviously put up better numbers than stepan last year, stepan clearly has the potential to be a top 6 guy. it's scary to think that a 4th line with stepan and zuccarello is gonna be going up against checking lines.

Torts is not stupid. He would not put a line like that as a checking line.

He's not going to be on the fourth line. Gross tweeted the line combos and listed that line last. Jesse Spector tweeted the same combos, listing the Stepan line third. So did Gross just tweet the line combos, disregarding "order," or is Stepan really going to get fourth line minutes? I'd say the former is far more likely.

Here is Spector's tweet:

Forwards on ice now for #NYR: Wolski-Richards-Gaborik, Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan, Rupp-Stepan-Zuccarello, Fedotenko-Boyle-Prust

Yeah, there is no way that Stepan would be used as a 4th line player.

Rupp won't be with Steps and Zucc for long. Why waste their talent? Feds is at least a better producer and has the speed to keep up.

Why would you assume that? Other teams are likely to try to match their checking line against our first and second lines.

Cuz the Feds-Boyle-Prust line was very good last year, so they're being kept together a bit in training camp. Doesn't mean things won't change in a hurry when the season starts

Lines never stay the same. Players get shuffled around. There are injuries. These combinations are not set in stone.

Finding enough ice time for all of Richards, Anisimov, Stepan and Boyle is not going to be easy. For those who think Boyle is the lesser player of them all--he is still a beast who can play 18-20 minutes a night and play well. In last years playoffs Boyle ranked third among our forwards in ice time. There may be some wing time this season for both him and Stepan.

I would switch some in the 3rd and 4th: 3rd Feds-Step-Zucc 4th Rupp-BB-Prust

Would give us 4 really dangerous lines. Just my thoughts...

And also Eminger as 6th D. I would go with Bell or Erixon for Eminger. Dont get me wrong I liked Steve last season in the the games he got but Id try Erixon instead of him. Hes a better puckmover, plays very very smart and is a PP-Monster. Well see what happens because we know Torts will switch them...

Eminger with DZ? They were terrible together in the 1st game. DZ did much better in the 2nd game... who was he paired with then?

Might as well just play Prust and Rupp on that 4th line, MZA would be pointless on the 4th, if they honestly don't have room for him on the 3rd he'll go to CT and Avery will play on the 4th.

I never thought Torts would play Anisimov on the 4th line but he did, you never know with him.

Stepan and Zuccarello aren't fast skaters, either.

I believe, and I could be wrong, that the though process for having Rupp with them, is to open the ice in the offensive zone by having a large body, and physical presence. Rupp can create some disturbance infront of the net and Stepan and Zuccarello can use their skill to create some chances.

Who knows if the theory will work, though. I guess we have to wait and see.

Id love to see Hagelin with Stepan and Zuccarello, though.

They aren't overly fast, but Rupp is terribly slow. Zucc and Steps are both playmakers, they need someone who could potential score. Fedotenko isn't a sniper, but he has more scoring prowess than Rupp. If Feds-Steps-Zucc becomes the 3rd line, who becomes the scorer?

Erixon.

Which could end up being the third pair when camp ends. Hopefully it is.

Well, that's an issue. Stepan and Zuccarello aren't natural scorers.

I still want to see Hagelin with Stepan and Zuccarello. That could be a fun line to watch.

Rupp, Fedotenko, Christensen and Avery work against Hagelin making the team. Hagelin has been flying around the ice, but hasn't been productive enough to deserve a spot on the team.

If Fedotenko-Stepan-Zuccarello becomes the 3rd line, Stepan will most likely have to take it upon himself to score more goals. We don't want Stepan to become a scorer, he needs to be able to be a playmaker. Fedotenko-Stepan-Zuccarello would be the ideal 3rd lien with what we have, but it doesn't help Stepan or Zucc.

How's Avery been looking? Has he been making a case to stay on the roster so far, or has he been uninterested?
