The Departed Flyers Expectations

So, now that all of our old friends are on some new teams, how will it affect their production? There are quite a few, so make your guesses:

Mike Richards (LA): 31g, 43a, +20, 65 PIM
Jeff Carter (Columbus): 33g, 28a, -4, 30 PIM
Darrol Powe (Minnesota): 5g, 7a, -13, 54 PIM
Ville Leino (Buffalo): 15g, 30a, +10, 20 PIM
Kris Versteeg (Florida): 15g, 23a, -5, 35 PIM
Daniel Carcillo (Chicago: 8g, 7a, -6, 155 PIM
Sean O'Donnell (Chicago): 1g, 13a, +5, 70 PIM
Brian Boucher (Carolina): 17GP, 7W, 10L, 1 SO, .908 SV%, 2.85 GAA

I can see Carter breaking 40 goals this year.

Jeff Carter 37g, 34a
Mike Richards 24g, 59a
Darroll Powe 14g, 14a
Ville Leino 17g, 27a
Kris Versteeg 24g, 27a
Dan Carcillo 3g, 2a

I think Richards will have a really good season in LA. Powe could perhaps end up on the third line for Minnesota, and if he does chances are this will be his career year. Versteeg will have a bit of a bounce back year in Florida without much pressure put on him and seeing time with Weiss and/or Booth. Leino will not be as good as Buffalo thinks,I don't think it will work out playing him as center. I have been wrong at times in the past though... I don't know how many games Carcillo will get in Chicago, there's some stiff competition for the last forward spots there. He could end up sitting in the press box quite a lot.

Everyone who responded to this thread but you.

I think Richards is going to have a similar year like last, Carter's production may slightly elevate. Leino to me remains a complete mystery, i'm interested to follow him this year, my guess is he doesn't break 60 though.

I think Buffalo will end up disappointed with Leino.

Agreed, though I would say this is their own doing, you can't give him that contract and simply expect he'll fill out to it.

They are not on the team anymore? Some people don't have affiliations with players but just support the team. I for one hope that they all have terrible years (outside of powe) so that we essentially "win" the trade's.

Sponge you've done this multiple times, if you don't like the topic, then don't click the thread specifically about it to argue. It's kind of pointless, no?

I wasn't trying to cause an argument. I was stating why some people wouldn't care.

This is an open forum. If you don't like what I posted you can skip straight past it no?

This will be an important year for Leino, he still has a lot to prove.

So when Carter and Richards tear it up for their new teams people like you and RJ can say "oh well I don't care they aren't on my team"

Not gonna attempt to make predictions of actual totals but I think...

Mike Richards (LA): Will have more points
Jeff Carter (Columbus): Will have about the same
Darrol Powe (Minnesota): Will have about the same
Ville Leino (Buffalo): Will have more points
Kris Versteeg (Florida): Will have less points
Daniel Carcillo (Chicago: Will have about the same
Sean O'Donnell (Chicago): Will have about the same
Brian Boucher (Carolina): Prob hover around .500 as a backup.

Mike Richards (LA)

I expect Richards to rebound back to his 80 point form. He should see more of a scoring role with better linemates in LA.

Jeff Carter (Columbus)

I expect the usual from Carter. 40'ish goals, 60 to 70 points. I expect that he'll do for Columbus what he did for us. Go to the net and score a lot of goals.

Darrol Powe (Minnesota)

No reason to expect him to be worse for Minnesota then he was for us. He should see himself in a similar role as well. I expect fans to love him like we did.

Ville Leino (Buffalo)

If they use him as a center? Things will go badly I think. If they use him as a winger like we did? Around 40 points. The only place he's even had a modicum of success is here.

Kris Versteeg (Florida)

I expect goo numbers for him due to an increased scoring role. The likes of Tomas Kopecky, Stephen Weiss, David Booth, and Kris Versteeg will make up the forward scoring core for Florida. 45 to 50 point.

Daniel Carcillo (Chicago)

I see him continuing to lower down on the stupid, insane stunts like he did toward the end of his stay here. Should solidify himself as a quality fourth liner.

Sean O'Donnell (Chicago)

I expect Chicago to be very disappointed in him. I see him ending up as a mediocre 7th d-man by the time the season ends. Age has caught up to him and it showed both here and in LA. He's horribly slow and he seems to get worse as the season progresses.

Brian Boucher (Carolina)

I expect similar results in Carolina. Decent backup with his ups and downs. Certainly won't flourish under that Carolina defense though.

He was a league MVP in Finland, very good in the AHL, and showed a lot of promise after he initially broke into the NHL with the Red Wings (5 G, 9 PTS in 13 games).

Basically, the only point where Leino DIDN'T have success was the 2009-10 season with the Red Wings where he went on to have that great playoff run after coming over to the Flyers.

I think he'll do fine in Buffalo, regardless of whether he plays center or wing for the long haul. However, I also think the Flyers were wise not to pay him close to what he got from the Sabres.

Even being half the player he was in his prime, Jagr is still about as good as Leino -- and that's not a knock on Leino. He's also on a one year deal at less than Leino got from Buffalo, allowing the Flyers more flexibility after this season.

Don't laugh at that. he's going to be #1/1A center along with Roy. They're loaded on the wing. It was a brilliant move.

Leino can didpsey doo with the puck but it always goes nowhere. He cant shoot for **** and they will be dissapointed. on the other hand Briere will create a new monster in Voracek. then buffalo will sign him in 2 years for 78 mil over 6 years. I've seen it with me own eyes! Its Briere's continuous revenge on Buffalo for not shellin out obnoxious money on him

loaded at wing? BUF is filled with a bunch of 2nd and 3rd liners

there's a reason why that city will always be a city of mediocrity

Leino has looked pretty good so far. It will be interesting to see how he does at centre. I think Richards and Carter will have excellent years, Richards can just play hockey and Carter still seems pissed at the way he was treated so he will play well. I'm not too interested in the others.
