Well for the positives...

Morgan Ellis playing in his first game was probably our most steady defenseman. Everyone comparing him to Gorges is right on, but he seems to have more confidence carrying the puck.

Archambault continues to impress me. Not only are his hands extremely good, he already knows how to effectively use his body to protect the puck.

Gallagher was awesome again. Too bad lady luck wasn't on his side tonight.

Gomez looks to be living up to his promises so far, competing much better in puck battles.

Willsie!...just kidding.

Anyone else think Yemelin might be more comfortable making those hipchecks on the left side?

I know it might be foolish, but I'm salivating at the thought of Gallagher making the squad this year.

A line of Gallagher-Eller-Kostitsyn sounds amazing.

Make room for Ellis! Haha.

Seriously, this guy isn't that far away. His defensive awareness is HIGH! Very calm, composed, smart and mobile. He's a keeper.

Gallagher is a psycho. What a good hockey player for a 5'8 19 year old!

Palushaj looks not bad. It's obvious all he's missing is weight. He's usually positioned well and has a good compete level. D'agostini for Palushaj is a wash, I think they'll have a similar nhl impact.

Yemelin is ready. A few minor adjustments and he's good to go. Nothing foundational needs to be re-learned. He'll be fine.

Beaulie just needs to get bigger and needs more experience, he's a good one. Soon(2-3 years) he's ready.

I was thinking the same. He would look good on that line with two big guys to give him some space.

Also guys remember that our better offensive prospects have all been out this pre-season and they have all been offensive two-way centers which would have given the entire pre-season a different feel. I'm talking about Leblanc, Desharnais, Eller and Bournival.

Also, let's not forget the injuries to Nash, Markov and Subban(latter two are not prospects, but would have given the defensive side of the game some structure) which would have given some of these lineups a little more structure and not as errant and lost. There was one or two defensive verterns every game. Defense will be sloppy when that happens.

Really been impressed by Archambeault. Great hands, good speed and very good hockey sense. Looks like a steal last June.
