Exit 16 W update -- Zinovjev

Two-plus hours to go here before they drop the biscuit, but it appears that Zinovjev will make his debut. Donato was the last guy off the ice at the morning skate--indication he will not play. Can't see Zino doing much on a line with Sandy Mc and Grosek (now that's Siberia)--more likely to bump Green 'tween those two and fly with Samsonov and Lapointe.

Zinovjev to wear No. 54-- who knew that Dit Clapper and Bobby Orr were such big hits in Siberia. -- kpd

54 is some strange digits...usually reserved for fringe players 50-60's. he'll be changing it after a couple excellent starts i hope thanks for the insight

He wore #42 for Ak Bars and #13 for Lokomotiv Yaroslav.
I read somewhere that thirteen is his lucky number!

"13 Зиновьев Сергей" in a Lokomotiv Yaroslav box score:

well, 13 is available...last guy to wear that was guerin, and before him was samsonov his first camp before he switched to 14 because 13 was unlucky to him...it'd be kinda funny if zino does take that number because it's lucky to him and he ends up playing with sammy.

any truth to the rumor he asked for 5, then 4??? If they are not giving him 13 that can only mean Guerin's going up in the rafters after back to back 40 plus goals.

Some of our international fans might know this, but is 13 a well respected # to have in Russia? Samsonov only switched because of American superstition, I know Pavel Datsyuk wears 13....just wondering.

13 may be lucky, but it never did much for Valeri Kamensky.

Umm, well except make him a millionaire.

zina definitely needs to put on some weight/strength, as he'll have troubles keeping up all year with that frame of his. but his game is certainly solid- skates well, is aware, excellent passer, a bit gritty. didn't take long for him to find his way to line 2.
chico "i'm so very annoying" resch has stated that he feels bergeron and zina are two "very nice looking young players". take it for what it's worth, but i certainly agree.

oh- and this period wasn't the typical boring devils style. maybe burns popped a few mickeys before gametime it sure was funny watching him whine like a lil baby after that quick faceoff.

Zino's assist on Samsonov's goal, the game winner, was awesome, it was a 2 on 3 they criss-crossed Sammy gave it to Zino then he hit Sammy with a perfect pass and Sammy just put it into the open net
