Gagner has missed 14 games in each of the last 2 seasons, so I wouldn't call them healthy seasons.

Also, has your crystal ball ever made a positive or optimistic prediction?

Under closer scrutiny, i think you'll find this is positive. The player replacing Gagner will easily surpass what they can do with 89 in the lineup. Lander or RNH would be a step up from Gagner.

Under close scrutiny....

Nope. Still negative. Again.

Hope he is alright, he has looked much better this year, would suck to see him slowed down due to injuries...... well that is the story of the oilers for years.

What's the problem here? So Ron likes to take his shirt off in the bar. Normal.

Mostly precautionary, I'm sure. But it does mean it's possible there's a possibility this could be fairly serious. They wouldn't do this for a simple sprain with little pain or swelling.

MRI's are the smart way to determine tendon and muscle integrity.

As opposed to the old school method of..."How bad is the limp?"

An MRI is essentially an X ray of more than just the bone(s).

ya, sigh, Doesn't mean for sure it is serious, but they wouldn't if it was just a mild sprain. With the Oilers luck we won't see him untill January.

When the injury occurred, the fall looked awkward and, judging from the look on Gagner's face, painful. Too bad for Gags, if it's weeks or months rather than days that he is out. To me, he looked a little like he was poised to break out this season.

Having two rookies of RNH, Lander's calibre, and two veterans like Belanger, and Horcoff available lessens the blow of potentially losing Gagner for more than a few days. It's nice to have some depth in the org. Finally.

The fall looked very bad. I would be surprised to see him play within the next month. Could be longer imo. That looked nasty.

Listed as day to day until the MRI confirms a high ankle sprain I would wager

Maybe we should wait for the results instead of speculating about injuries that could take him out for most of the season.

Hey I thought you wanted him traded

But in all seriousness, the last thing this team needs is to have him out long term

Traded or vastly improved, you can't trade him when he's hurt and expect to get full value.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it good news that Gagner got the MRI today? Isn't there usually problems with swelling that would've pushed it to tomorrow like first mentioned this morning?

Well, most of his injuries have come near the end of the season, maybe he's getting it out of the way early this year and can come back and still have a good season.

It must be super frustrating to train so hard all summer and then get hurt before you even get a chance to see any benefits from that training.
