Avery is such a plug... You can imagine the stuff he says on the ice, then goes to the media with weak garbage like this? The guy is a worm

It is really easy to read Simmonds lips, he definitely called Avery a "****ing *****."

Bryzgalov was asked about the rivalry: "It seems like there's going to be lots of murders."

Schenn will not play Thursday though the (upper body) injury isn't deemed serious.

When he was with the Kings he called Georges Laraque a monkey and Oilers coach Craig MacTavish confronted him after the game.

I went to college with Matt Read...awesome player and was a great student athlete. Glad to see he's doing so well with the Flyers.

Avery said Simmonds called him a homophobic name. Simmons said Avery called him something "I wasn't happy with," but wldn't elaborate.

Well well, it seems Avery may have said something on his own. Jackass.

i agree that avery is a jackass (but he's our jackass), unfortunate that simmonds was the only one to get caught.. interesting to see what comes of it

If every player who ever called Sean Avery an 'f'ing bundle of sticks' got suspended, there would be no one left in the league....

In fact, there would be so few NHL players left that Kevin Marshall might even get a call up!

Tortorella, asked about the nature of the game and the way the Flyers played, says "Shanny should have a field day."

Oh I thought we were too soft and only dove when we played the Rangers? According to Tortorella last season.

Shame Schenn won't be playing. I'm not sure that he's really blown me away from what I've seen.

Nice game you guys. Just wondering about Briere, I felt a little sad for him not having someone who could complement his skill tonight. Voracek was really quiet, will Hartnell be enough to get Briere popping?

About the game, I feel like Harry Z isn't talked about enough. No world-beater, but I think he is very close, and he was being used in the last minute of the game, PK, and he reminds me of Alex Burrows.

And credit to Rinaldo too, if Holmgren told him to cut out the horse crap, he has done so. By doing so, he now has a better chance of making the team, if only out of attrition. He got away with one where he left his feet on a high hit, but the Rangers player got out of the way

Minor pro linesman tweets he hears homophobic slur once/game. Didn't say it was good. Didn't say it was bad. Merely enlightened us.

There ya go, and I'm sure it's more than just once per game.

It's really weird seeing Jagr though, mainly because it seems like most of what he does is just natural for him, and makes things look easy. I don't know if I'm going to be used to it .

A little weird but not much different then when we got Forsberg until his foot started becoming a big soap opera.

That's what Holmgren said about his old enforcer, the Black Knight

I believe that was never officially announced to be his helmet. If that is his helmet, I guess he might wear it at the Winter Classic.

edit- never mind that's wrong

Beef is not a hater on Read. He just had to see the light This kid can play center or wing and hopefully he can carry this over into the regular season, It will be interesting who makes this squad. Although if guys keep getting suspended it will make it easy on the couch as to who makes the team.

Missed the game, but the highlights were certainly entertaining. If Campbell were still on the job, Sestito probably could have avoided a suspension by just saying, "I thought it was Avery." Seriously, I expect Sestito to be gone for the rest of the preseason and 5 games.

Jagr is exceeding my expectations so far. I hope this is a true reflection of what we can expect through the season and beyond.
