Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Cole
Pacioretty - Gomez - Gallagher
Bournival - Engqvist - Palushaj
Moen - Dumont - Blunden/Darche

Yemelin - Weber
Campoli - Diaz
Gill - ?
I think they will start playing the expected lines as soon as thursday since they have not played together much. I guess the Cole-Plekanec-Cammalleri will sit, so:

Pacioretty-Gomez-Gionta
Kostitsyn-Desharnais-Palushaj
Darche-Dumont-Engqvist
Bournival-Blunden-Gallagher

I would think the Subban-Gill combo will sit as well, so:

Campoli-Gorges
Spacek-Diaz
Yemelin-Woywitka

After the game they will probably cut Bournival, St-Denis, Henry, Gallagher, and the AHL-bound injured

would be nice to see the top 2 lines in action thursday. See what they could do in same game. I like the campoli, gorges combination, has some offensive potential and should be sound defensively.

hmm...don't like that Yemelin is paired with Woywitka as 7/8 d.

Yeah I noticed that too. At least he's not playing wing.

Spacek-Diaz is not a strong 3rd pairing too.

I am expecting Martin to carry 13 forwards and 8 d-men for the beginning of the season.

Weber is the one on the bubble...

Slot gallagher in for Palushaj and I'd be happy.

He and Blunden had the 'day off' according to the Habs. Might be resting sore bodies.

I imagine Gallagher will get a chance in that Palushaj spot in one of the final two games as a reward, and then unless the injury situation becomes worse he'll be sent back to the Giants.

Hopefully he keeps his head up and continues to play this way in hamilton, he had a very good camp and should be happy. Come back next year even harder

Had a good camp, skated like his pants were on fire. But probably would have been completely over-matched by game 4 of the real season.

That's exactly what I said this morning, there is no way he would have played 82+ games at that pace

Very happy about Dumont's camp. He won me over. He has a bright future ahead of him.

Judging from what I saw in the preseason games, the Habs can't go with more than 2 rookies (Yemelin + 1 other). This doesn't mean I dislike the rookies in general. I was pleased with several who won't be around on October 6. I don't expect the Habs to have a fast start and Price is going to get a lot of extra work, with little expectation of help from Budaj (who looked awful in the 7-3 shellacking by the Bruins). Cohesion hasn't set in yet and the absence of injured veterans has made it harder for Martin to settle on his lines and D pairings.

Me too. Beaulieu and Gallagher (and Yemelin) have sort of eaten up a lot of the attention with their showings, but Dumont's also done himself real credit with his camp. Looking forward to Bournival getting a game too, I think he could make a similarly positive impression for himself. But so far, Dumont's been the standout among the bottom-six forwards type guys for me. Not that he's close to NHL ready now.

I actually just posted Dumont as the 4th line center for the Habs in my mock line-up. I really liked what he brought. Instead, I think now it's pretty much obvious we're going with Engqvist's size and smarts for the 4th line center duty.

That's what I'm thinking. I think he'll play 6 minutes a night on the 4th line plus whatever he gets on the second powerplay wave.

Look at Sequin's goal yesterday and the blown coverage by Dumont. That is probably the main reason Martin is going with Engqvist. He has better defensive awareness and the size obviously helps.

He had a great camp though so I think there is a strong chance he gets call this season if we need someone on the 4th line.
