Injuries 335 MG Lost (Ellis, Hecht, Ehrhoff, Myers)

Sorry to do this but we were going to need one and we have our first injury.

Quote:
Jochen Hecht became the first Sabre to get dinged up at training camp.

Hecht got clipped in the mouth during the Sabres' final practice group of the day. He left the ice for stitches and returned, but he is not back out for the group's second on-ice session.

The injury likely should not force him to miss any additional time
.

Jochen is already broken. Thankfully its minor.

Hecht remains out for the weekend

http://blogs.buffalonews.com/sabres/...e-weekend.html

Quote:
Jochen Hecht will not play in the Sabres' three games this weekend, coach Lindy Ruff announced after Thursday's double session in First Niagara Center. Ruff said Hecht, who needed stitches in the lip after a collision with Shaone Morrisonn early in camp, is being held out but should skate next week. Hecht, remember, could not get back on the ice during the playoffs due to what was later learned to be concussion symptoms.

"A little bit of it is us being precuationary here," Ruff said.

I hope they're just being overly cautious and its nothing more than that.

Damn you Morrison trying to open up a roster spot for yourself !!

Per Bill Hoppe, he hurt it on a faceoff of all things.

Lindy Ruff said Derek Roy won't play tonight against Toronto, but his shoulder injury in minor, "He's OK, he may miss a few days but nothing serious."

Derek Roy is also pretty hopeful, "It's just day to day, the doc said whenever I get strengthening back into your muscle and get back to work."

It happened on a play not many saw, "It was just off the faceoff, stick on stick sort of thing I kind of awkwardly twisted my arm so it's just a little tender around the muscles. It was preseason so we decided to just take the game off."

Derek Roy visited with his teammates Saturday, one day after suffering a shoulder strain in Toronto. The center was hurt on a faceoff in a 2-1 victory over Maple Leafs and left the game, though he said he could have returned if the stakes had been higher.

"It was just off the faceoff, just a stick-on-stick, kind of awkward twist on my arm," Roy said. "It was just a little tender around the muscle. It was preseason so we decided to just take the game off.

"A little bit sore when I woke up, but right now with treatments and stuff it feels good."

Roy is day-to-day and likely will return to practice Tuesday. The Sabres play in Columbus this afternoon and are off Monday.
Quote:
Coach Lindy Ruff said left wing Jochen Hecht, who suffered a head injury that required stitches near his mouth last Sunday, is improving.

"Jochen won't play this weekend," Ruff said, "but he's been on the bike, his exercise level is way up, and he'll probably start skating Monday."

Possible concussion for Leggio?

Quote:
David Leggio was plunked in the head by a shot, apparently in practice on Friday, and hasnít been feeling all that well. He will be out for a bit, Amerks coach Ron Rolston said.

anyone know if Hecht would travel with the team? I feel bad for the guy if he misses that trip, he must have been psyched for it.

Bad news on Hecht and Roy update

http://blogs.buffalonews.com/sabres/...o-the-ice.html

Quote:
The first big bit of news out of practice today is the continued absence of center Jochen Hecht. A cut lip does not force an absence of roughly a week of drills, and that clearly points to a recurrence of concussion symptoms Hecht experienced at the end of last season. Memo to Lindy: You will be questioned about it again today.

Derek Roy, who tweaked his shoulder Saturday against Toronto, is skating in a red (non-contact jersey).

Lindy Ruff said both Derek Roy and Jochen Hecht are improving, but he doesn't know if Hecht will be ready by the start of the season. Ruff said, "I anticipate either tomorrow or the next day that Derek will be back to full practice. Hecht is progressing, he'll probably get on the ice sometime this week." As far as missing game one in Finland Ruff said, "It's a possibility, a small amount of concern right now. I wouldn't put it that we think we're there yet."

Harrington spewing more stupidity and furthering TBN's anti-Hecht agenda.

Quote:
it stinks more that [Hecht's] still here. I think the only reason they kept him was for germany. waste of $ now that he's hurt again
Yes, Mike, they kept a player so that he could play one regular season and one exhibition game in his home country. Heck, that's probably why they gave Ehrhoff $40 mil, too.

I actually used to like Harrington before he got his Twitter account. I sure am excited for his first "I want my $6.25m goaltender to make that save" comment. I don't think he will be able to make it beyond the second or third game.
