It's actually a really good question. We're defensive minded enough when we want to be to adjust the game plan around a backup goalie. I think we would be good enough to be right in the mix to qualify. Hank is great, but how many bumps up in the east do we realistically get from him? Maybe that would be a better question...

if pittsburgh can make the playoffs without britney crosby and emily malkin we can get there without hank. but hopefully we wont have to find out the answer to this question.

16 years ago when Richter went down, Healy stepped in, held down the fort, and we almost won the division.

2 years ago when Brodeur went down, Clemmenson stepped in, held down the fort, and the Devils won the division.

Henke is the most valuable player on this team, but I feel that if heaven forbid he did go down, Biron (who is much better then Healy and Clemmenson) would be able to "hold down the fort" until he came back, and we would still make the playoffs. We'd have to scratch and claw, but we could do it.

That said, I would prefer we not have to find out if I'm right!

I believe we are.

I think that we play a responsible enough style of hockey that would enable Biron to win enough games to get in the playoffs.

Would I prefer to have Henrik in nets? without question.

We're a 4-5 seed with Hank if everyone's healthy this year, imo. I say 7-9 if Marty had to play starter for most of the season. Knock on wood nothing happens to Hank, though.

I think it depends on 2 factors:

1) How good is our offense this year?

2) How long is Lundqvist gone for?

I think if the Ranger's offense is good enough and Lundqvist were to miss no more then 3 months we may be able to hold on and get a spot.

If our offense resembles anything from last year I think there is no chance in hell we make the playoffs.
