Injuries are part of the game as every team goes through it during the season and playoffs. This Ranger team has a lot of depth so they can sustain injuries and still be a good team.

They certainly can't sustain any injuries to important defenseman, given the lack of proven depth available to the Rangers.

There are 4 legitimate top-4 defenseman on this Ranger team: McDonagh, Sauer, Staal, and Girardi. If any one of these 4 players sustains a serious injury, the chance of the Rangers finishing any high than 6th is very slim.

It looked really bad last night and I was extremely worried.

If it is indeed only one week that would be great, we can't afford to lose another good d-man.

With that said, given the dearth of injuries so far--luckily with the questioning of Staal, everything has been minor, but it has been really bad in terms of injuries so far.

I have been keeping my cool over the Staal concussion issue, but after I saw Sauer go down last night, I started to worry about the team's chances for success, if they were to lose 2 of their top-4 d-man...

NYDNRangers Jesse Spector
#NYR cut Thuresson & Deveaux. Sauer (shoulder) out a week. Rinaldo defended play as just awkward collision.
Did he say that with a straight face? Looked like vicious boarding to me.

the hit looked clean to me, i thought it was just awkward. sauer was off balance and they collided weird. wasn't from behind, wasn't boarding. again, with them saying it's about a week i'm assuming it's nothing more than a separation. not nearly as bad as a dislocation and with ice and a sling he'll be fine in no time. only problem with a separation is you definitely have a better chance of dislocation later on

I been saying that all offseason, which is why I was pushing to sign another veteran. Michael Sauer injured you say? No way! Most here love our depth on the blueline yet almost every player they expected to step and and move up the depth charts failed.

Too bad Pashnin wasn't here, if he had a decent camp he coulda had a shot.

But we don't need any more friggin D!

We have the deepest, youngest, best blueline in the NHL!

In the age of the salary cap, who is going to have more than 4 top 4 defensmen? What top quality defenseman is going to be satisfied to sit on the bench in case someone gets hurt to make you feel better? Mara's name came up. Everyone hates him. The Rangers are already paying Redden $6.5 million a year to torture us. Who is good enough for you guys?

Bit of a misleading post on my part...the Rangers don't really have anyone capable of filling in as a 'top-4' defenseman past the first four -- Eminger is passable for a few games or so, but if any of Sauer/Staal are out for an extended period of time, this team is, quite frankly, ****ed. MDZ can't handle top-4 minutes now, and Erixon clearly cannot, either.

Yes, but Sauer is pretty nice to have... Big body, strong, not a push over

but we aren't going to survive without staal AND sauer. we aren't in panic mode but with our lack of experience on the blueline we have to be very worried
