I read somewhere that they ate too many cream puffs. I'm not sure where, though.

Was PG really expecting to rely on 2 D men coming off serious injuries, a couple of vets prone to brain farts who are only good in limited situations and a couple of rookies? Really? Oh well another wasted season... goodluck washington!
I'm sure you would also want $3.5 million tied up in next season's cap on a 39 year old defenseman who will have probably declined substantially when you attempt to find the room to give Price and Subban some well-deserved gigantic raises.

PG tried to sign the Hamr, but he wanted 2 years, and obviously PG wasn't willing to give him the second year. Move on.

I bet the same people who cry about Hamrlik leaving are the ones who hated him two years ago when he slowed down.

As solid as he may have been, he was definitely replaceable. He made a lot of boneheaded plays too. I'm not saying we're better off without him but at 2 years and 3.5M I'm happy we didn't re-sign him.

Glad Hamrlik is gone. Spacek and Gill should have left as well.

Habs D get tired out by the playoffs because they are too old. Now only Spacek and Gill are old. Campoli may not be as skill as Hammer but he has youth and stamina comes with that.

I think it's obvious they aren't comfortable with Weber taking a lot of minutes 5-on-5 and they want a powerplay presence. The Kostitsyn experiment on the point didn't go over so well.

Subban-Campoli
Yemelin-Spacek.

Those will be our D on the PP until Markov comes back, then we're likely to see.
Markov-Subban
Yemelin-Campoli.

You can put them on their right sides and mash 'em correctly. I'm bad at knowing which D man plays on which side.

Not to mention that he'd have a lot of rust to scale off.

me too

if i understand correctly, it's lefty plays on left side, and righty on right side(?) makes it easier to clear the zone among other things i presume

So right now, the only player pretty much certain to miss the start of the season is Markov, is that right? My impression is that Eller and White and maybe Moen are questionable, everyone else is probable. Two preseason games left to add to the injury list, of course, but really other than Markov, come opening night our injury list may not be all it's cracked up to be. Or to put it another way, it may not be all that's cracked up so many posters.

Largely true, but there are exceptions. Gorges has played his whole career (at least pro, as far as I can tell) on the right side, or wrong side, as it were. Now that we've learned one of his knees has been shot for years, I wonder if that was a factor in him being more comfortable on that side.

Imagine the team Hamilton could have if all of our injured players have to have a couple conditioning games there....

Based on what I heard McGuire say last night on 98.5 in Fournier's show:

White and Moen : They're not even skating.

Markov : Skate alone

Eller : skate with team, but no contact.

Hopefully they're just getting all the injuries out of their system before the season starts.

Most of those injuries are either from last year(Markov Eller) or just minor twaks taht we see in camp and teams are ultra conservative with. The time that Gomez Subban Pacioretty and Desharnais missed was very short and has no impact on the season.

Interesting. Hopefully he can start skating with his teammates. Poor guy has been either re-habing or skating around a rink by himself for like 17 of the last 18 months.

On another note thank god Gorges finished the game. I thought he was done the way his leg bent back.

Oh man, I definitely thought his season was over right there. How he got through that with no injury is beyond me.
