He sucked in ONE preseason game, so did Price...Budaj is an established NHL goalie, i'm not too concerned with preseason stuff.

I don't exactly understand why Willsie is put on the waivers...
Thought he'd be the perfect 13th forward, actually.

A team like Isles or Panthers should claim Hamill. Not much to lose.

I prefer Blunden as the 13th forward. Willsie will score goals for Hamilton.

I see White/Moen/Darche all rotating in the line-up as 13th forward. Blunden will be waived later.

They would lose ice time to a player who's probably better. I'm sure the Isles skill players are better than Hamill he is a 44 point AHL player.

I'm glad to see Willsie cleared. He really impressed me and I think he's the perfect replacement for Mathieu Darche when his contract is over.

Would any of those guys need re-entry if they got called up?

I'm not sure but I think they need to have a salary of more than 105,000 to go through re-entry.

Nathan Lawson = $105,000
Brian Willsie = $225,000 (Need re-entry ?Willsie is in the exception or I'm confused ?)
Alex Henry = $200,000 (Need re-entry ? Exception like Willsie?)

Quote:
The 2005 NHL-NHLPA collective bargaining agreement introduced re-entry waivers. With limited exceptions, any player who was subject to waivers before assignment to the minors must clear re-entry waivers before being called back up if said player is on a one-way contract or a two-way contract with an AHL salary in excess of $105,000.

Exceptions are players who have played in over 320 professional games (180 for goaltenders) and have not spent more than 80 games on an NHL roster in the past two seasons or 40 games during the previous season.

What will we do if someone claims Henry! The leadership will be non-existent in Hamilton. (but seriously he is the entire leadership core).

No, the Dogs need him as one of the few veteran forwards, better to have him helping the younger guys in Hamilton then watching from the press box. I prefer Blunden or Engqvist to be the spare personally.

Do not see him being a replacement to Darche in the future, as he lacks strength in a major way but perhaps he could fill in for a couple games if need be.

Alex Henry cleared waivers. So next player on waivers could be Blunden.

Blunden is going to make the team IMO...he's got several things going for him.

He's physical, is a good skater, right handed shot and JM has even used him on the PK this preseason.

I'd be very surprised to see him cut...especially with Moen and White injured and not expected to be ready for game 1.

Actually, I see the Habs molding Blunden into Moen's replacement IMO...whether or not that works remains to be seen.

That's why I said 'could'. I also think Blunden is making the team.

Very good post, I could see him sticking even after everybody is back, he's had a pretty solid preseason. With everybody healthy he's a better fit than Gallagher on the roster(once Eller is back he slides into the top 9) because we don't want him on a 4th line. I'm not sure Engqvist is here all year.

Cole-Plek-Cammy
Gio-Gomez-Max
AK-Eller-DD
Moen-White/Blunden/Darche/Weber

Markov-Gorges
Gill-Subban
Spacek/Yemelin/Weber-Campoli

Price-Budaj

If we are going with a top 9 approach on offence, Palushaj is a better option than Blunden, IMO. Palushaj puts up points and hustles back too. To me, Blunden is an upgrade over Ryan White at everything except fighting.

Weber is the 24th player if Blunden makes the team.

Gomez-Gionta-Pacioretty
Plekanec-Cole-Cammalleri
Eller-Palushaj-Kostitsyn
Desharnais-Darche-Moen
...White & Blunden spares

Gorges-Markov
Subban-Gill
Campoli-Spacek
Yemelin

Against most teams, our fourth line should get some points, as they are more talented than most 4th lines and still have size on the wings.
If we have a size matchup issue at C on the 4th line, switch DD and Eller for some games.

Campoli and Yemelin can rotate at times, and if necessary, Gill and Spacek can get nights off when we play 2 in 2. The aim should be for Yemelin to get 60 games as a rookie.
