no TV for Thursday's game in Prague

MSG is not covering Thursday's game in Prague. The rink is too small apparently.

stevezipay Steve Zipay
Small rink, no world feed, which MSG is using for other three. R

stevezipay Steve Zipay
No telecast. RT @jmj713: @stevezipay MSG TV schedule no longer lists the NYR game in Prague on the 29th?

This going to Europe for the preseason is nuts. I hope we dont have to do it again.

I think we're doing it the next 2 seasons so they can work on MSG.

It hurts the team but they want to sell a few extra jerseys.

Sparta Prague's stadium... built 1962, 14,000 seats... I don't believe for a second this place is "too small"... Especially when the NHL Network showed the Traverse City tourney...

It IS ridiculous. Play the whole preseason on the road in North America for crying out, team's gonna be freaking exhausted by the time they finally get back to the Garden on the 27th.

What's ridiculous is the fact they play 4 preseason games in 5 days in 4 different countries. There's absolutely no reason to play that many preseason games in such a short time span.

the best part is, they're going from Czech Republic to Sweden, all the way back over to Slovakia and back across the continent to Switzerland, only to go back up to Sweden. that's a lot of unnecessary traveling.

Then to Western Canada.

But this is to be expected while your home arena is being rebuilt and in March we'll get paid back when we need it. Home ice and practice, days off and a playoff push. Now will be road time, team building which will lead to a hot start. I'm not complaining at all.

how can the rink "be too small" for cameras? That's ridiculous. I can fit a few TV cameras in my apartment. I'm pretty sure the rink's bigger then my apartment.

They can cover the game, maybe they won't have good shots of it, but they can still set up a few cameras around the rink.

It really wasn't even necessary to go to Europe looking at it now. Most people figured MSG wouldn't be open until late October (the day the Rangers open up at home or even later) but it's reopening the 22nd or 23rd. They could have done a two week road trip where they get western Canada out of the way and then play some local games (Flyers, Devils, Bruins, Isles, etc.)

Europe could have been saved for a year where either the Knicks or Rangers go deep in the playoffs and MSG won't be done until late October/early November. Than again, I don't know how far in advance they do the schedules so it could throw my whole idea out the window.

why can't they play in Czech Republic, then Slovakia, then Switzerland, then up to Sweden where they finish the preseason and start the regular season? that's really my only issue with this whole thing.

back on topic, i hope some Czech station is televising this game somehow... or us at least having access to something with live updates that isn't Twitter...

2008-2009 Pittsburgh played Ottawa in Sweden (Pit wins Stanley cup)
2009-2010 Chicago played Florida in Helsinki (Hawks win)
2010-2011 Boston played Phoenix in Prague (Bruins win)

yeah .. playing in Europe is useless, teams are exhausted and they have no chance in SC

Europe is not that big, it's only a 1-2 hours flight between the countries you mention, Slovakia to Switzerland is less than an hour. Shouldn't take too much energy.
