Are you serious? You wouldn't trade a declining forward for a young #1 defenseman? I wouldn't think twice before making that deal. Too bad Nashville is not that stupid.

Weber would command something similar to what we've given up for Pronger, Suter would probably go for a bit less (but still a hefty package).
No way in hell. Danny has easily been our most consistent offensive weapon the past two years.

When nobody else is putting up points, Danny usually is....and when he does, the team still manages to win.

If you add Suter/Weber you can go ahead and flip Carle/Coburn/Meszaros for another forward. Sure we might have trouble putting the puck into the net but on the other side, you get yourself a defenseman who will anchor your backend for the next decade.

The guy had his third best year to date last season and was second to Roo in playoff points.

You need to watch other teams, too.

Weber is probably on the same level as Pronger (not Playoff-Pronger, though) right now and he's 26 years old.

I don't even know if I'd do it I love Briere. Giroux is pretty clutch too though...

I'd have to consider it though since Timonen/Pronger are aging, and Coburn/Carle are UFA after this year too. You'd also have to consider Briere's getting older.

Are Suter and Weber UFA? along with probably a number of other solid dman, why not go with the already stellar backend we have then maybe try to sign one or two of these guys.

I don't see Briere waiving his clause.

If we actually got Weber, we should have a parade

I dont see this even being a relative thought in either gm's mind at this point in time, Weber for Briere. This post was about a rumor likely involving Hartnell and nashville, and it has turned into this.

You guys are nuts if you wouldn't trade Briere for Weber. Sure, Briere absolutely 100% has been amazing in the playoffs. But come on. This is arguably the best defenseman in the league entering his prime.

That being said, there is no way they are trading us Suter or Weber.

So the title of the thread refers to the team "moving salary."

Naturally, we decide the Flyers are targeting the guy who makes 7.5 million.

I think the roster has endured enough changes. Trading any other parts of our top 6 is unnecessary. If we need to move salary well, we have a couple of useless players that could be waived in a heartbeat. Still don't understand the love affair with some of the bottom feeders on this team.

Losing Harts would prove to be a very big mistake in terms of our teams overall grit and character. He's our most consistent crease crasher and an effective one at that too.

Trading Hartnell makes no sense.

..Oh, this is Holmgren we are talking about.
