It was linked in a thread on this board back around the time Carter and Richards were traded. Others on here probably remember where it is much better than I do.

It was the Orange and Black board, phlocky.

One of the posters met Hartnell and asked him about his future and he said he was outta here or something like that.

Ok, thanks. I knew I heard it somewhere on the message boards (thought for certain it was here though, lol).

Again, nobody really knows what Hartnell meant by that but it is interesting when everything else is taken into account.

Again, I am NOT speaking with any "inside information" but it's just a feeling that I have that Hartnell is on the way out. I've just had this "feeling" ever sence we traded Carter and Richards and that Simmonds was one of the players we got in those 2 deals. I've just believed all along that he was brought in to become Hartnells replacement. When Hartnell made that comment it made me believe that Simmonds replacing him might happen sooner rather than later. Now we add in that Simmonds has looked GREAT in camp and the pre-season games thus far and the rumor of us talking to the Preds about trading them a top 6 forward, it just seems to be an aweful lot of smoke for there to be no fire at all.

I'm not trying to argue that trading Hartnell would be a good thing, just that I have a feeling that it IS going to happen.

Anything sure of an overpayment and a surefire defensive prospect then the flyers should stay well clear.

I think Holmgren has had to see that 2nd rounder we got from the Kings all summer long, and it's eating at him. He needs to get rid of it. The whole salary dump is just an excuse so he can throw it in a trade and get nothing in return.

Seems farfetched to me as well...

In regard to the Scott Hartnell to Nashville "rumor" from yesterday, there was apparently nothing to it. While the Flyers are no doubt talking to a variety of teams about possible trades, I suspect that if the team's incumbent second-line LW was going to be traded (for which he'd have to waive his no-trade clause), it would have happened over the summer.

That sounds more like it. Then again, I never in a million years would have believed a Mike Richards trade was coming...

Then you have this nugget...concerns making room for Couts

Quote:
Or, better yet, the Flyers could trade some veteran salary to make room.

"You never know what's going to happen," Holmgren said yesterday with a grin. "I don't think we can assume anything just yet."

I remember the quote, but this was back in July or so. It would have happened already if it was going to happen.

2010 top goal scorers:
Carter 36
Briere 34
Giroux 25
Hartnell 24
Richards 24
Versteeg 21
JVR 21
Leino 19
Zherdev 16

So we trade Hartnell, rather interesting to look at our top 10 scorers from last year knowing that only 3 remain. And to replace them we have NHL goals last year; Jagr (0), Schenn (0), Simmonds (14), Voracek (14), Talbot (8), Read (0), Couturier (0).

Dat makes me nervous.

I've been looking up some info on some people that could move around in this trade if it happens. And I'm liking Ellis as the guy to go after.

And I think this would be a fair offer:

Maybe Hartnell + 2012 The Kings 2nd or Panthers 2nd's (2012 or 2013, Panthers choice) + Our 3rd 2012 or 2013 our choice

for

Ellis + like a 3-5th 2012 or 2013 Preds choice or some BS

But you have to figure that someone (JvR, Giroux, Jagr, someone else) will step up. While I'm not saying the Flyers will by any means make up the entire goals we have lost, they should be able to make some. Couple that with a healthy Pronger and better goalie I see it as a wash. And if more than one of the guys step up, its a plus for us.

You also have to figure that ok, last year we had all this scoring ability so we didn't need anyone really to score 50 goals. And I'm not saying we will have a 50 goal scorer, but now that there isn't that depth, a guy like Giroux or JvR now will be getting more ice time and having more of an opportunity to be THE guy. Obviously both of these scenarios are not guaranteed by any means, but I think as long as someone steps up and the defense/goalie situation stay healthy, I'm not worried one bit. Now, if no one steps up and Pronger is hurt and Bryz sucks, obviously we have a problem. I'll wait until December before I start to worry. Judging from the preseason, which I know some of you think is absurd, I think we will be ok. Have the same amount of regular season success as we did last year. Playoff success...who knows. But regular season, not at all worried at this point.
