Michael Leigton waived [cleared, sent to AHL]

RT @TSNBobMcKenzie: All other players on waivers yesterday cleared. Today's waivers: Leighton (PHI); Plante (FLA); Danis (EDM); Rodney (ANA)...

He'll clear and end up in Glens Falls, which, for them, is a very good thing as he and Bacashihua make up one of the best tandems in the AHL. The only way you'll hear his name again is if eithr Bryzgalov or Bobrovsky go down with an injury.

Paul Holmgren has until next Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. to submit his final roster. There are still many decisions to be made between now and then, but it appears as though the goalie situation is set. The Flyers waived Michael Leighton on Thursday, making him available to all other NHL teams. The intent is likely to send him to the Adirondack Phantoms after he clears.

What are the chances Holmer gets confused and puts a waiver claim in on MFL ?

The wife and I just got back from the Skate Zone where I ordered my jersey. There were four players and one Flyer goaltender on the ice with some staff. They were at the far end of the rink. The wife's bad back was acting up some we had to roll. I could not tell who was out on the ice. One player looked like JVR in red. All the others were in black. One was a frigging monster.

Yeah, as much **** as we've given MFL the last couple of seasons, as long as he's handling this thing professionally (and by all accounts he did so last year), the Phantoms will have one of the better AHL goalies.

If he gets claimed are the Flyers still on the hook for half of his cap hit? If not, please someone just get this guy out of our system.

Not on the way down, only if Leighton gets called up. And since the other 29 organizations didn't bite at half the salary last season when Holmgren called Leighton up, I don't think we will need to worry.

I'd love for him to be claimed just so we don't even have the possibility of re-call waivers again. Not holding my breath though.

LOL-eighton!

Sadly though until he is completely out of this system I'm sure he'll rise again and even play a key playoff game perhaps!

This creates cap space to keep Couturier on the roster.
