What else do we have? They sent down Dumont. They didn't sign a veteran presence for the 4th line center spot. We have Engqvist. He's big. He's smart. He's a good PKer, he has some offensive sense and he's alright on face-offs. There exists no better option for us right now.

Gallagher is out of this world. I'm seriously trying to find a mistake in his game to explain why he'll get sent back to the W.
He's not transforming his effort into points. He loses some defensive assignments. He needs to gain some strength. It will be a tremendous experience to go to the Worlds Juniors etc.

There are always stuff to find. Thing is, I can find stuff for all the 20 players we have.

Common sense tells me that Gill should not be on the top 4. He is only going to get slower. He is an amazing leader and teacher of the game and great on the PK. But the way you're defending him you seem to think he's a top 4 guy. The man he getting old, but he can still be valuable on the 3rd pairing. He was gassed on that goal even though DD did screen Budaj, he was gassed, hence the reason why he should be on our 3rd pairing.

I think Gomez looked pretty good too. Not sure he deserves the hate right now.

No. He wasn't.

He had that failed entry.
Countless weak or failed passes to team-mates.
He did not create an opportunity for any of his line-mates to score.
He was an absolute waste of space on the 5-on-3.

He is our 7 million dollar "first-second" line center. That is not good enough. The only player in the top 9 he was better than that period was Andrei Kostitsyn.

TSN had a segment for the goal-tender from a Canadian team with the most pressure. Must say for me, it's a tie between Carey Price and Roberto Luongo. Luongo has the huge choke label on him and Carey Price is a goaltender for the Canadiens, enough said.

Lol.

Not that Budaj has been good but both Stamkos goals were goals I wouldn't hang on any ones head as a goalie. He has a quick accurate shot. One was a rebound off a deflection and the other was one-timed through the Desharnais screen.

The vets are still not pushing too hard and the guys arent clicking very well yet but nothing very concerning to me, guys will regroup togheter before the season start, they will have intense practices and we will be ready..

Gallagher still our best foward on the ice so far tonight, we have nothing to lose keeping him for a nine game tryout..

Diaz improving game by game, I really like his progression through the camp..

Yemelin with a difficult 1st period but Im not too concerned, nothing major..

Just wondering....what if you have the choice between Garon and Budaj. But what if it comes with the price of having to guarantee Garon with 20ish games....would you have done it?

Personnally, I would have done it....by a freakin mile. A better 2nd goalie and the rest for Price. Still 55-60 games for Price and the whole playoffs....that's more than fine in my books.

No you don't. You don't like Budaj's preseason....but nobody misses Auld. Actually almost half the league didn't miss Auld since they've actually kept him 1 or 2 years at the most...

Now this is a much more sensible post. Cause you also said you wouldn't want him on hamilton he is so bad lol. Saying he should be on the third pairing is alright. I would still want him with Subban because when players go after Subban, Gill does a great job holding back the player that wants to take subbans head off. He also brings a calming veteran presence on the Ice.

Gill gets top 4 minutes because of the big minutes he plays on the PK which you even said is very good. And the playoffs you can't deny Gill becomes one of our best and most reliable defensemen

Sounds weird but I think Montreal don't want a francophone backup goalie in Montreal. TONS of pressure on Carey Price after a few bad games.

Last year they had a choice between Biron and Auld. Biron was the better goalie in my opinion, and accepted a 2nd goalie role, yet they took Auld.
