With all the attention Gallagher has recieved...I think Bournival can play in the nhl and should. He's physically ready and is able to keep up. Should have recieved more icetime tonight.
I thought the possession time was nearly even after 2 periods. The difference was goaltending and stamkos' shooting ability. In the 3rd we just packed it in and they took over. TB scored 6 this game. We would have been more competitive (effort wise) had the game been closer.
So, which prospect do we trade for an actual backup? Gauthier ain't great at analyzing goalies. Ramo for Desjardins? Ramo ignored? sanford released? Auld let go? Macintyre realeased? And we sign Budaj for 2 years.
I think if Markov does indeed come back healthy after 10 games our PP would be fine.
Gallagher with a good first, tough 2nd and 3rd period.. Needs work in the defensive zone.. Hasnt particulary stood out in the last 2 games facing better competition, not sure if he is going to get a 9 games tryout..
Desharnais is easily outmatched physically, especially deep in the def.. We need size down the middle, that third line center spot belong to Eller as far as Im concerned..
Diaz is improving game after game, will start in the AHL but could see him as the first callup in case of injury..
Yemelin can do better, struggled at times at reading the play in the def zone.. be patient with this kid, it will pay off..
The Bolts were very well prepared for this game, the guys were hungry playing a tight systematic game, they are obviously ready to start the season while we still need some work.. We will be fine, the team will regroup and have some intensive practices before the season start..
JM likely has had his opening line-up set for a week already and is using these final games to test out how well his mid-low forward lines and defensive pairings stand-up against tougher opposition. Like what's been said already, JM would not send lines out like that on purpose during the season unless they've proven they can handle the duties, which they completely could not tonight.

Ramo ignored?
Umm, Ramo didn't want to come to MTL to back up Carey Price.
Yemelin can play in the top six over Weber. He played a decent game overall. Martin played the young guys alot tonight. Diaz looked ok and so did Campoli. AK needs to embrace his role on the third line, if he does that will be great when Eller gets back. I still would like to see Gallager get a longer look in the top 6 though.
Hal Gill is ahead on paper, but in terms of play he is our worst defenseman in October. I'm sure he'll pick it up by the end of the year but he is fudging awful. Markov isn't healthy.
Of course, he is just the one who traded Halak to St-Louis for Eller getting a big skilled center and letting all the place for our real franchise goalie..

Gill needs to be playing 2nd-fiddle on his defensive pairing (or play against easy oppositoin) to be effective at even-strength. If he's not paired with Subban, not paired with Gorges, or not on the 3rd-pairing it could be a long season.
Gallagher isn't ready yet anyways guys. He showed a lot of promise for a 5th round pick with his size but he's got some maturing to do in his game. He'll be good for us, but not yet.
He was ready in the 1st. Strangely, wasn't ready in the 2nd and 3rd. Sorry but for me, that's BS. Is AKost ready? Is Emelin ready? Is Diaz ready? I can name you 10 guys right now that doesn't seem NHL ready....Is Creampuff Engqvist ready?
So Gallagher will go back in Vancouver expecting to score 100 goals in 50 games. How's that going to mature his game? Maybe a Team Canada performance would? Let's hope he gets pick 'cause that's not a gimme, though with the numerous guys that will stick in the NHL, he has more chance to do so. Yet, it's still not a gimme.
I can tell you that Gallagher would be ready for a lot of teams. So it's not about Gallagher not being ready. It's about us having to play our "contracts". But I'm just frustrated to see how we're expecting our rookies and young players to be mistake free while most if not ALL our vets aren't.....Reason why we lost a few guys in the past years that finally ended up playing well while they have the confidence they needed.
Desharnais can't handle center duties. He lost defensive puck battles all night, turned over the puck in his own zone many times and just got manhandeled by the opposing team. He was on the ice for 3 goals and 1 disallowed(lecavalier's). Other than his line the game was pretty even.
The habs missed several chances...too many chances, plus two posts.
Thx someone could see it.. A.Kost had a pretty tough game too as well as Gallagher in the second part of the game but its not a reason for a center to blow his defensive coverage in the def zone.. Cant wait til Eller is back.

You know that year that Halak carried us to the final 4? Price was awefull that year. Last year Price outplayed Halak. Who is to say Halak doesn't outplay Price this season?
You know the most recent season is not necessarily the key indicator of an entire career. 1 season doesn't make a career. Halak to this day has had more playoff success that Price. Carey may win the Vezina this yea, he may not. Gauthier would have likely done well picking either of Price or Halak. Halak is no ******, he may have played very well as a Hab last year.
Don't know if its been stated yet.. LAST YEARS PRE SEASON RESULTS
Boston Bruins 1-3-1
Vancouver Canucks 3-5
Detroit Red Wings 3-5
Calgary Flames 7-0-0
St Louis Blues 5-3-0
Toronto Maple Leafs 5-3-1
chilllaxxx?
People that recite these stats every year, it's getting old. I like how Stamkos said the pre season is about building good habits, working hard etc. Its important to hit game 1 running, not fumbling.
Although its not panic time, the team doesn't look very good.
