Rangers to Win Cup...Who's With me?

30:1 odds.

Best goaltender in the world. Severely undervalued. Unbiased, tremendous spot

$500 to win $15,000

LETS GET IT...WHO'S WITH ME?

NEW YORK RANGERS, 2011-12 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS

Can't see it unless Wolski and Stepan pull 80 point seasons out of their ***** and/or Lundqvist pulls a Thomas.

Neither of those scenarios (Wolski/Stepan) are realistic - or necessary.

As for Lundqvist pulling a 'Thomas' - I don't know what that means.

Henrik Lundqvist is the best goalie in the world.

Was weird, the site I go on had Rangers and Predators at +2500, and Oilers are +2000. Silly mistake on their part, or they are dumb.

Had my buddy who's in Vegas put down $20 for me at 35:1 odds. I figured, "what the hell, why not."

If the Rangers win, awesome, and if I receive a $700 payout, that's just gravy.

@bold: Neither are the Rangers' chances of winning the cup this year.

Lundqvist is maybe the most consistently good, but he hasn't really had any one year where he was head and shoulders above everybody else.

I am going to go with a solid, and classic no.

We aren't there yet. There are still a few pieces that we are missing/need to develop before we are ready to contend.

2-3 years and I think it's our time.

We only have three more years of Gaborik and a realistically good Richards. I hope we can "contend" by next year and have a window of at least 2 years.

By 2-3 years I am including this year as one of those years, so we are on the same timetable.

It's a possibility though more likely in another year or so. Rangers look like they are going to be strong down the middle--centers--Richards, Anisimov, Stepan, Boyle--a young solid top 4 defense that maybe needs a bit more experience and a great goaltender--and we have some nice wings. It's a matter of putting things together. Almost all teams have holes. Rangers could use a pwp qb on defense and maybe another scoring wingers. Hopefully Wolski can help out with that.

Our defense and offense aren't ready yet.

Staal and Girardi could be prepared for a deep playoff run, Sauer, McDonagh and co. may not be.

I'm all for being an optimist, but we just don't have the team yet.

Are we close? Yes, but we just aren't on that level yet. Guys like Stepan and Anisimov need to improve on offense and we need a better structured third line if we want to get something done. Fedotenk-Stepan-Zuccarello is an okay 3rd line, but it isn't all that great. If guys like Kreider and Thomas can come in next year and do well, maybe we can make a move for the cup.

Our defense is terribly young. Girardi, Staal and Eminger are our only veterans. Sauer and McDonagh are both sophomores, Del Zotto barely had a sophomore season. We haven't really seen great things from Erixon or Valentenko yet. McIlrath won't be ready for a little bit longer. Our defense needs to grow before making a push for the cup.

Rangers have the defense and are defensive minded enough to win the cup. PK is always good. They just don't have the offense. Boston and Vancouver had the top 5 offense and defense last year. Rangers offense was 15th best. Being in the middle is not good enough. They need to go to the top five and keep the defense the same. If they do that they will win the cup.

My first trip out to Las Vegas was in 1993. I procrastinated for a day debating whether to put money on the Knicks,Rangers or both. I finally decided on both and dropped a $100 on each. Come June 1994 I was in a panic since I could find the Knicks ticket but not the Rangers. I called the Sands(remember that hotel) and they were very accomadating and since both were purchased at the same time and a day later I recieved a phone call from somebody in the Sports book and they traced it and mailed out a check. A few years later I was cleaning out a drawer and found the ticket. I was able to get it signed by Brian Leetch my favorite player on that team and have it framed.

Rangers aren't as far off from Boston as you'd think, though.

Last year, the Bruins had 246 goals for and 195 goals against, the Rangers had 233 goals for and 198 goals against. Throughout the entire NHL, Boston was #8 in GF, the Rangers were #14.

I'm not exactly agreeing with the OP, but our offense isn't that far off.

Eh personally I think our defense is too young. They need another year or two to develop.

Eh, its not impossible. 500 for 15k isn't bad if you have money sitting around that you're willing to risk. If Callahan, Dubi and AA all go career high points and "break out" together and Richards and Gaborik do well its possible. Anything goes in the playoffs. Henrik is the best, Biron is better than most of his backup peers, the D is young but that first pair is an anchor. The offense is the issue, but Richards is going to make a tremendous difference and I think that this year is as likely as any of the next few that the pack line guys really come into their own offensively. Callahan was killing in points for a long stretch of time before the Chara shot. Dubi stormed out of the gate at the beginning and was a difference maker, granted not permanently, and AA is still growing in that department.

I think our defense corps is the biggest question now. I like our top 4--Staal, Girardi, Sauer, McDonagh but I also think Sauer and McDonagh are still a little raw.

I'm not with you. If Washington doesn't win, then I don't understand that team.

It's not impossible. There are several teams that look to have the advantage, at least for the time being. I'd say we stand a better shot than most of the league. Once the playoffs starts, you never know who has beast mode ready to go. I'd watch for Hank, Cally, Richards and Feds down the stretch. Whoever gets the hot stick stands a chance to be a hero to us all.

Either way, I'm with you.

Let's do it Rangers.
