Until game 4??? I thought he was pitching game 2. Who's going instead??

EDIT: Could be a good move. If they can steal one of the first two then they have Carpenter in game 3 vs. Hamels which is a pretty even matchup and Garcia vs. Oswalt which is another pretty even matchup. Maybe they figure Lee/Halladay are better than Carpenter/Garcia so they are trying to just get the good matchups later on? Weird call though.

Westbrook I believe.

EDIT: Nope, Edwin Jackson.

I'm certainly not complaining.

Like someone said on MLBN, it seems as if Larussa is hoping to steal one from us on the road, then have Home field advantage making us have to go win against either Carpenter or Garcia on the road.

We need to take both games at home, or the tide is in St. Louis' favor.

Edit: Damn my slow typing skills!

What I saw was Lohse - Jackson - Carpenter

Interesting move. They must be banking on stealing one of the first two then going into games three and four with better matchups. Could be a smart move, could wind up backfiring on them.

Dude, I have a black belt in karate (under the guidance of Master Tsu Chin Tsao in Burlington, NJ) and I participate in several MMA pick up tourneys. Let them try it.

Your mobility might be hindered a bit by the giant red bird costume. Just sayin.

Do any of you know the extent of damage a kubotan can do to an eye?

I'm wearing a CCM proline helmet under the suit. I have this all thought out.

Haha ok then. At least you're prepared I guess.

In all seriousness though. If you're going to the game dressed as a red bird you need to make sure people know you're not a Cardinals fan. Carry some kind of sign or alter the costume somehow. Maybe you could get beat up on the dugout by the Phanatic or something....Unless you are a Cardinals fan, then I'll just say good luck, have fun with it, and don't be a dick because karate doesn't help when you're in a giant red bird suit surrounded by a large number of angry drunk people.

Could work out fine for them if they steal one in Philly I suppose, but I think Garcia gives you a better chance to do that, and then you take your chances with whoever in Game 4 rather than this way. The chronology of events does have an impact even if not on paper.

You're the St. Louis Cardinal of the Angry Birds. All you can do is fall on things. You can't split into three or explode. Stop making up unusable skills.

I would pay money to see him trying to fight off 20 drunks with that while dressed as a bird.

Carpenter has never thrown on three-days rest before.

The Phillies now imo have the advantage every game at pitching with Carpenter pitching game 2.

The Cards have the advantage in hitting in every game, unless we get into a solid groove. My fear is still our bats not being able to do anything, even against average pitching.

They do have the advantage in offense, but their advantage is alot smaller than the pitching one. Their bullpen also has been terrible. I have liked what I have seen over Rollins and Utley over the last fews games and it looks like HP3 is in a groove.

There's always that fear. In general, hitting is a lot more of a streaky activity (more variability) than pitching. You will likely see some .300 hitters go 2 for 20 in playoff series, and .250 hitter go 14 for 25. Really hard to predict, we can only find out so much on paper.

I would suggest he wear a diaper to stay the hell out of the mens room. However baseball fans are more civil than football fans. I have to admit the only two fights I had at a sporting event were at Flyer games. One in the mens room and one in the parking lot. Both vs you guessed it.... rags fans.
