Neither have Bishop or Fortier.

What's the benefits of keeping those guys part of the team? The medical staff?

@SirGaryThomas Pretty sure there's rule that you can't cut a player while he's injured. That's why Fortier was on roster most of last year

There is no way we let him go back in the draft? I just don't see what management is waiting for the give him a deal.

Pretty sure he's just there until White or Moen gets back.

There is no need to offer him a contract, he's still habs property anyway.

Not tomorrow at 5pm. No contract, he re-enters the draft next year.

That's just in order to play this season, the deadline to sign players before they re enter the draft is June 1st 2012.

The real limit to sign him is June 1st 2012, I think.

OH ok! I never thought he would play in the NHL this year... I misunderstood. The way I heard it on tsn or maybe elsewhere was that he had to be signed by tomorrow or he goes back in the draft. Broadcasting information isn't what it used to be.

Both kids gave us a nice glimpse of the future, Gallagher for sure as he played more since Bournival was injured.

They are both players who can go back and dominate at their level in their respective junior leagues.

It was a shame we weren't able to see Leblanc too, not to mention Nattinen as they were all suffering injuries.

This camp may have been one of our best in recent memory to see the potential we have in the future as Beaulieu and Tinordi looked good too.

The Habs have a lot to be happy about in regards to the youngsters, but also know there is a lot of work ahead in development and drafting in areas of weakness.

Honestly, the right move was made in sending BG back down. I wonder if he has a bit of Chris Higgins in him for the fact that he gets tons of chances but can never bury them....but the again he did score 40+ 2 years in a row...I just hope in translates to NHL! And Bournival is going to be good!

Im liking Blunden to stay with the team btw...

It was the right move, Gallagher will get another shot next year, and probably stick...

Next year's training camp is going to be pretty darn interesting. Of course, lots and lots can and will happen between now and then with regards to player movement and regression/progress, but looking at some guys...

Gallagher and Bournival may be NHL ready.
Leblanc might be NHL ready given that he's spending this year in Hamilton.
Avtsin will likely either be close to NHL ready, or be on a plane back to Russia.
Engqvist may be NHL ready depending on where he spends this year.
Dumont should be primed for fourth line duty.
And who knows how guys like Fortier, Conboy, and more will play.

Then on D, Beaulieu and Nash will challenge openings, and we'll have a better idea how Tinordi is progressing and how much time he may need in Hamilton.

Should be fun!

Next year, we have the following under contract or RFA:

Cole-Plekanec-Cammalleri
Pacioretty-Gomez-Gionta
DD-Eller-Empty
White-Empty-Empty

Markov-Empty
Subban-Yemelin
Weber-Empty

Notable players missing: Gorges and AK as UFA. We can expect some changes next year. Perhaps even at 2nd line center position(if another bad year by Gomez). There will be room for the players to try out and for some UFA fillers.

It was the last 2 periods that killed his chances. He wasn't bad by any means, but he wasn't productive with the 3rd line which is where he would slot if he had signed a contract.

Oh well, time to bulk up some more and hone his defensive skills... and probably his shot accuracy too judging by the amount of posts he rung

Just be glad they will sign the Empty brothers and not the open brothers. The open guys are horrid.

I'm disappointed. Would have liked to see Gallagher for a few regular games before being sent down.
