Well, Avery was physically cut.

He left the game early because of it.

Yeah... I guess Torts already knows who he wants/doesn't want from the games he's seen.

He probably doesn't want info to leak earlier than when he said he would make the cuts.

only difference was he was entering the 2nd month of the season into a newly signed 4 year deal. now teams have the option knowing his contract comes off the books after the season and well be on the hook for half his salary this season.

But so far, at the NHL level, he hasn't shown that ability, aside from the one play a couple games back.

He's got to stop thinking about his next fight, he isn't a fighter. He loses all his fights. And he's going to get himself hurt. He needs to focus on driving the net and pouncing on rebounds. Be a junk goal guy that can play strong down low and deep and around the net. Focus less on trying to be an agitator.

Just my opinion.

He has potential.

But if Zuccarello makes the team, im not sure who Weise plays above. Rupp? Would be the only one, maybe. But doubtful.

Tough decisions coming soon.

He has Jason Ward potential, the question then becomes do we need a Jason Ward on this team and if so, where does he play?

I think Zuccarello's play has killed Weise's potential for a 3rd line RW spot. Maybe, maybe they keep him as a spare forward. Maybe they trade him.

That's a good point. Hadn't considered that. Still, I'd be stunned if anyone had any interest in Avery.

Yeah, Zuccarello definitely earned his spot.

I wouldn't mind Ryan Bourque sticking around and playing on the 4th line.

And Wolski is useless on that top line.

Dubinsky. Richards. Gaborik
Wolski. Anisimov. Callahan
Fedotenko. Stepan. Zuccarello
Bourque. Boyle. Prust
Rupp

Staal. Girardi
McDonagh. Sauer
Del Zotto. Erixon
Eminger

Lundqvist
Biron

I think Ryan Bourque has outplayed all the rookies...forwards and defenseman, by a considerable margin. still though, i think seasoning is warranted, for all our kids.

I agree on both points.

But, im still pulling for him now that he's done all he can in camp. If the Rangers don't want Avery and Christensen around, may as well let a kid like Bourque play some NHL games on the 4th line and see if he can handle it.

We don't have to worry about waivers with Bourque, right?

Sorry, SM, but, Rupp's not getting scratched for Bourque. The Rangers claimed they had Rupp as their other major UFA target behind Richards. They envision him playing on a nightly basis. I don't even think that is worth questioning.

I personally had Avery making it over MZA, but, it looks like MZA is getting favorable press from Tortorella, and rumors are surfacing that Avery could be gone.

So, the lineup looks to me like the following -

Wolski(for now)/Richards/Gaborik
Dubi/AA/Cally
Fedetenko/Stepan/MZA
Rupp/Boyle/Prust

The question becomes who is the 13th forward...Bourque needs ice time, so I'm guessing he goes to Connecticut. I take Mitchell over Christensen.

What you have there, that's probably what will happen.

Refer to the other thread.

Bourque making it is not what I think will happen, its just what id like to happen.

At the end of the day, this is all that needs to be said. I agree.

Can a mod change this poll to Avery vs. Christensen?

Bourque, Mitchell and Hagelin were cut.
