Nah, he's got talent but I think he's a step away from the NHL. He hasn't shown enough, IMHO, to be on the big squad yet.

So with Staal likely out atleast the first two games D may be Del Zotto, Girardi, McDonaugh, Sauer, Bell, Eminger, Bickel to start they yr?

Highly doubt that. Make a move Sather

So, it looks like Bickell is here until Staal is ready, and Christensen and Avery battle for the 13th forward spot. Frankly, aside from his goal yesterday, Christensen showed very little to deserve sticking around.

man something has to give. Makes sense they only take 13 F. I still say they are going to waive Avery and if he is not claimed then EC is a goner.

Hoping Avery stays and they can move EC for a 6th Dman from a team that can't keep that player. Carkner first choice

If it's either Avery or EC, I take Avery and jettison EC.

Avery VS Christensen for the last forward spot. The bosom buddies.

not much to argue about, and im not sure how anyone can be completely surprised at Erixon, he clearly needs more time. I think he's going to be somethign special though.

I agree, it is too bad, christensen has such talent, and is wicked smart, but just is not consistent or that noticeable on the ice, unless it is a shootout.

avery has shown his old self quite a bit this preseason, he really is riding that fine line, which is how he is effective, but he also has some talent, but i think his role is diminishing with the rangers, he just is not as needed as he was in the renney era and first year of torts.

It will be sad to see him go, but i think this is his final season with new york

in the renney era, the team needed Avery to keep them on their toes... in the torts era, the coach does it himself.

Finally, Weise has to clear waivers, and Torts believes he will play in the NHL. The Rangers hope he clears, but "it is what it is."

Personally I have not been very impressed by Bickell thus far.

Like Weise, Mitchell this preseason, but numbers didn't add up.

Erixon has the hype and relative dissapointment part of the McDonagh story right. Now he needs the growth and development part.

The team must cut down to 24 players by Wednesday, and John Tortorella said in a conference call from Gothenburg, Sweden on Saturday that Erik Christensen and Sean Avery are vying for that final spot.

"As far as the forwards are concerned, wed like to just carry 13," Tortorella said. "Were still going not sure who that 13th forward is. Its obviously Erik (Christensen) and Sean (Avery) battling for that spot."

The team is allowed to carry third-string goaltender Scott Stajcer through Europe, but once he is off the roster and Avery or Christensen is cut, that will form the team's final roster.
