Rangers didn't place Weise on waivers today. Just Mitchell and Newbury.

Bickel requires waivers when/if he is assigned to the AHL at some point
/Claim Tikhonov

/Waive Christensen

Not only are Avery and EC battling for the final (13th) F spot, both are in their last year of their contracts before becoming UFAs at seasons end...

What happens to Dallas part in Avery if he is waived?

Was anyone cut yet? All I see is Mitchell and Newbury on waivers.

Ryan Parent is on waivers from Vancouver. He hasn't developed as hoped, but him and Staal made a hell of a shutdown pair at the WJC back in the day. I have to believe that Parent is a better short term option than Bickel, and with a $925k cap hit, on his last year of his contract, I'd put in a waiver claim.

A fresh take on the 13th forward situation

Regardless of if Sean Avery or Eric Christensen (should be IMO) the one sent down the Rangers have had serious issues staying healthy. Gaborik, Richards, Cally, Dubi, Feds all missed huge chunks of time last year. Both veterans have played well in camp. So the word "expendable" doesn't really apply to either forward, it just stinks we cant hold 14 forwards.

The obvious other storylines: Wolski's consistency, MZA's first potential full season, who winds up in Torts' doghouse? All take a back seat to the health of the team.

Avery seems to make more sense to keep up because of the financial issues if theyd have to call him back up, I would think atleast?

Are these players sent straight home despite being on the euro trip?
ie does that mean I can expect to see more of a "real" Rangers roster on monday when they play in switzerland?

Hagelin showed great speed and acceleration, as well defensive ability and positioning. I wasn't expecting him to light up the score sheet nor do that in his career. He looked like a guy who trains hard and was in good shape.

yes the final 2 preseason games will basically be the rangers roster for the season, of course sauer may or may not be in for either game depending on how he feels, and staal probably won't be there for those games, on offense yo will probably see both avery and ec playing both games, and torts will either rest a couple top players or a couple fighters like rupp/prust

Can't really argue with that, however we've got a bunch of forwards that do everything Hagelin does, but better (with the exception of speed).

Likely, Imo.

If there is any question about PCS he should stay home. Not worth the risk.

Don't sell Bell short. Certainly had a very good camp. He's been an NHL player has always been a fairly good offensive player. He wouldn't be the first guy to go to Eurpoe and come back a better player.

Found this interesting (on of all places HF)

Quote:
Bell accomplished his long time goal of representing Canada at the 2003 World Junior Championship in Halifax, where he paired with Washington Capitals’ prospect Steve Eminger to form a highly effective defensive pairing for the Silver Medal-winning Canadian side.
And while we're on the subject, who had Bickel in the pool?

I would be surprised if Bickel's mother even expected him to start in the NHL this year.

I liked Bell a lot and I like Bickel as a bottom pairing d-man. Dude is tough as nails and is a decent hockey player.

Tikhonov is garbage. Dude is terrible. I was LOLing when the Yotes took him in the 1st round and I have been LOLing ever since as people are so delusional by him being a 1st round pick that they think he doesn't blow.

I'm not. He's underwhelmed all preseason. People just expected him to come in as a rookie and take a roster spot.

You know what happens when you assume.

Dissappointed about Hagelin. I wouldve loved to see him play a couple games. His speed is amazing but he's gotta work on his scoring touch.

We didn't have as bad of a defensive situation last year as we do now. I don't expect it, but I wouldn't be too surprised if we claimed him.

I thought Erixon was decent in the first couple of preseason games but he definitely tailed off recently.

I am thinking of picking up DelZotto in my points only hockey pool ... is he going to be a regular this year and will he get power play time? If he was to get 30+ points he would be a good pick up for me

uhhhh, thats exactly what he said he was going to do to the Flames. If Erixon doesn't get a sniff this season, I am certain he'll head back to Sweden.
